AAPC Cares About Hurricane Victims!

Donation protected
UPDATE: With more tropical storms hitting the southeast, we're expanding the use of these funds to cover all who have been adversely affected by these disastrous calamities.

In less than a week since Hurricane Harvey made landfall, 20 trillion gallons of rain have fallen on the Houston area, the storm has taken at least 31 lives, an estimated 30,000 - 40,000 homes in the region have been destroyed, and 32,000 people are in shelters across the state. Emergency dispatchers have been overwhelmed.

While AAPC has about 1,800 members in the Houston Texas chapter, more than half of which actually live in Houston, the devastation is not limited to that single city. We've had reports that our Corpus Christi, Galveston, Pasadena, and newly-opened Victoria chapters are all seeing awful consequences of the storm as well.

Please help the AAPC Chapter Association take care of the dire needs of these members as they struggle through these dangerous circumstances and work to rebuild their lives in the coming months.

We will coordinate with local chapter leaders to determine the best use of these funds. In the past, we have replaced home essentials (bedding, hygiene, clothing, etc.) and some professional resources as our members get resettled after natural disasters.

FAQ:
Who is AAPC Dave, this campaign's creator?
I work at AAPC as the Director of Member Experience and interface often with our Chapter Association Board, a non-profit arm of the organization. Since the AAPCCA has the infrastructure to distribute these funds through local chapter officers, that board will actually be receiving and overseeing the expenditures.

Why can't you be more specific about what you're spending the money on?
We're still in the process of finding out what our Houston area members need. As you can see from this campaign, we're still raising funds as well! We want to be able to provide as much as possible for as many as possible. When we have a better idea of what's needed and how much we've raised, the AAPCCA will know what we can spend the money on. Nobody will get paid with this money, though. Everything withdrawn from this fundraiser will go straight to accommodating the needs of the Hurricane Harvey victims.

How do I request help from these funds?
If you are an AAPC member in the Houston area and have experienced significant loss, please apply to Project AAPC at https://www.aapc.com/memberarea/chapters/scholarship-application.aspx. If you can't apply online for any reason, call us at 1-800-626-2633; we'll fill out the application on your behalf.
