Aaliyah is a 9 year old aspiring Gymnast, with a dream to compete for her country at the Olympics.
Aaliyah has recently gained a place in the 2019 Great Britain Home Nations Squad after placing 3rd in Great Britain, an achievement which she has been dreaming of for so long. We are trying to raise funds for the ever increasing expenses that come along with her training at this level, including coaching fees, travel, physiotherpy, hotels and specialist equipment. Any amount donated to help towards her achieving her dream is greatly appreciated.
Aaliyah started showing promising progress for her age and is part of the Eastern Counties Gymnastics Squad. Aaliyah has competed in many competitions over the last few years, medalling in all of these and winning the majority in first place. She retained her title of Best in Suffolk for her age at the Suffolk Championships.
This year, Aaliyah has retained her title of Eastern Region Champion by coming first at Compulsory Level 4, and this result enabled her to qualify for the national finals where she lead the East Team. At the National finals on the 12th May in Stoke on Trent, Aaliyah preformed beautifully and came second in Great Britain individually, and also contributed to the East team coming second as well. Aaliyah travelled to Malta at the end of June for her first International competition, placing 1st overall and 1st on each apparatus and then most recently came 3rd combined in Great Britain, gaining her a place in the Great Britain Home Nations Squad.
We truly belive that Aaliyah has the potential to reach her dream. Aaliyah’s natural ability has been noticed by her coaches, competition judges and her peers on social media. Unfortunately we are finding it difficult to meet the ever-increasing financial demands of Aaliyah’s training schedule and are therefore looking for some sponsorship so that Aaliyah can continue to train and perform at the highest level.
About Aaliyah
Aaliyah has been in the gym since she was only a few weeks old. She attended ‘parent and me classes’ where children are encouraged to be active and climb/roll. Aaliyah started gymnastics tuition aged three and showed a real natural ability for the sport. She won her first ever gymnastics competition aged three and hasn’t stopped there. In the gym, Aaliyah’s coaches are constantly impressed with her progress and ability to perform routines designed for girls several years older. Aaliyah trialled for the Suffolk County Squad and qualified in first place. She was also selected for the Eastern Counties squad, one of only three her age to be accepted across the area. This year, Aaliyah has retained her title of Eastern Region Champion by coming first at Compulsory Level 4, and the next step will hopefully see Aaliyah retain her place in the Great Britain National Squad for 2020.
Much of Aaliyah’s free time is also taken up with gym – it is her activity of choice while at home and our house is currently packed to the brim with gymnastics equipment so she can practise as much as she likes (which is all the time!). Gymnastics runs in the family with Aaliyah’s father being a gymnastics coach, and her younger brother (Yasha, aged 8) also showing a keen interest in the sport. Aaliyah works tirelessly and knows what she needs to achieve to retain her place in National Squad. She already shows a great understanding of the technical side of the sport, such as judging criteria and difficulty value of moves, which is amazing for someone of her age. Aaliyah shows natural talent for gymnastics, and no doubt her constant desire to practise and perform will stand her in good stead in the future. We are keen to do anything we can to help nourish her talent and help her achieve her dream.

We are currently raising some money to fund the cost of Aaliyah's training, squad fees, travel expenses and equipment for 2019 to help keep her at this level and aim to support her to retain her place in The Great Britain Home Nations Squad for 2020. This will help her get one step closer to her olympic dream.
