Surgery for Bobby

On Friday night I took our cat Bobby to an emergency veterinary clinic because he hadn't used his litter box all day and he appeared to be distressed and in pain. He had a blockage in his urethra that was preventing him from urinating. This problem can be very dangerous and even fatal for cats if left untreated. They removed the blockage and continued to monitor him overnight. They discovered many stones (struvite crystals) in his bladder, and proceeded with fluid therapy in attempt to dissolve the stones enough for him to pass through urine. They were able to dissolve some, but not all of the stones. He still has a concerning amount left in his bladder, and the vet suggested bladder stone removal surgery as the best option. If they do not remove the stones, a blockage will most likely happen again. We are currently looking at a vet bill of around $1600 for the treatment he has already received so far. That amount will double with surgery unless we can find a veterinarian who will do it for much cheaper. When I expressed my financial concern to the vet, she said that euthanasia is an option for people who cannot afford treatment for their pets. Well that is NOT an option for us. I hate the idea of asking for financial support because I feel their is always someone who needs it more than I do. But at this point in time, I am running out of options and I really want to save my cat who there is still hope for. He is only 2 years old and has never had any serious health issues until now. I am not going to give up on providing a long and healthy life for him. Any support would be so much appreciated. I am thankful beyond words for what people already do to support Mikey and I, and I can't even describe how important it is for us to be able to provide care for our animals.
