Chicago Marathon

Family Empowerment Centers is a faith-based nonprofit located in the Rogers Park neighborhood of Chicago. For ten years the Center continues to live its mission of reaching the high-risk and underserved populations of the community by coming alongside those facing challenges in urban America leading them to avenues of personal and family empowerment.

With a population of 65,000, Family Empowerment Centers serves the 20% of neighborhood families who fall below the poverty level by offering the following:

* S.A.Y. Yes! Afterschool Program
* English as a Second Language classes
* Personal, marriage, and family counseling
* Youth sports camps and recreation activities
* Addictions and recovery sponsorships
* Emergency support (food baskets, hardship grants, etc.)
* Community events
* Sunday Worship Service

Family Empowerment Centers touches the lives of 250 families each week through its programs and services.

I am running the 2014 Bank of America Chicago Marathon on behalf of Family Empowerment Centers as part of Team Family Empowerment. All funds raised through this campaign will go toward supporting the programs and services offered by Family Empowerment Centers.
