38701246_1555985199898863_r.jpegOn the morning of Thursday April 19th, our dear Dan was involved in an accident while enjoying the great out doors as he loves to do. Dan and his brother Alex were hunting just outside of Radium when tragedy occurred. A gun fired accidently, lodging a bullet in Dan's spine. As a result of this accident he was told he will never walk again. He was airlifted to Foothills hospital where he will be until he is stable, then will be transferred to GF Strong Rehabilitation center in Vancouver for up to 6 months. Dan's wife Colleen and his brother Alex will be with him. We are hoping to raise some funds to help with all the adjustments Dan and his family will have to make to get Dano back in action. Wether it be Reno’s to their home or a new vehicle, or a kick ass all terrain wheelchair, we want to help in any way we can. Please help us support this amazing family!
With sincere thanks,
Dans work family♥️

Well GF Strong is done with me, and I have arrived back home in Kamloops. GF Strong was a phenomenonal place, and the rehab team runs like a machine to get you back to being independent and feeling good. It feels good to have my independence back, and soon I will be driving. They work you hard and the 2 months there went by very quickly.
The ground floor of my house is close to being completed, and I can't thank Tara and Jason of
Casman Developments enough for their kindness, generosity and  expertise. Their crew has volunteered their time and has done an outstanding job fixing up a beautiful living space. I would also like to thank Complete Flooring, all the family and friends, especially Jo and Gerard, Scott, Curtis and Linnette, Mary and her boys, Riley and Jarett, my cousin Barry; all have  worked so hard in trying to get a place together for me and Colleen. There are many others including all of you who have donated to my GoFundMe, and we thank you all. Until I can move in, I have been placed at the Ponderosa Lodge. It feels good to being back home surrounded by friends and family. Thank you all.

Helloooo Everybody. This is your old buddy Dan. Just to give you another update on my progress. Last Monday a bed became available and I was transferred to GF Strong, so I've been here a week now. It's a pretty nice establishment. The plan is for me to spend about eight weeks here. Seem's there's a steep learning curve in first few weeks here. They work you hard to be independent during the day, and still give you lots of freedom to come and go as you please in the evenings and weekends. It's been good to get out and purchase a  nice meal and drink. Looking forward to learning to drive again with my thumbs, which they teach here. They have some fun looking activities planned too, and the food is actually not too bad either.  I've been keeping in contact with lots of people either through visits or texts which is nice and makes the time fly. We have started planning some home improvements with Occupational Therapy, so hopefully renovations will start happening soon on the bottom floor of our house. Thanks again for all the support, pouring in from everywhere, it is soo unbelievable and over overwhelming.

Learning how to fire new muscles is weird. One minute nothings working, then all of a sudden they work like you want them to.

A little update: I have now been transferred to the VGH Spinal Ward from Foothills, in Calgary, and have started rehab. Takes a lot of work, learning muscles I never knew I had. My torso feels like it's on a pivot, but my balance is improving day by day. My Chest tube is now out, I have finally been able to get outside which is very nice, and sanity sparing. GF strong could still be a bit of a wait due to bed availability. The preliminary planning stage of house renovations have begun. I am missing the warm sunny days of Kamloops, but feeling the warmth of support coming from all my friends and family which is also very nice, and much appreciated. Thank you to all who have donated towards helping my family and I. It's truly unbelievable and very gracious.
Love you all, Dan McLean
