Emergency Car for Family

A series of unfortunate events have occurred to myself and my family, leaving us in dire straits. I had a vehicle, a Ford Truck, which I purchased for 1500. It broke down on the way home. It was a minor fix, I decided to preserver. Over 3000 dollars later over the course of 6 months and then the head gasket blew. I did not have enough to salvage it and so was forced to junk it. I fell back on relying on my mother, Reva, a retired veteran who had a car, but rarely used it and could allow me to use her vehicle to get to work. 

Recently financial hardships have hit us both. We have been struggling. She pushed off the payment of her vehicle for no more than 15 days, to ensure she could pay for the classes she was attending as a doctoral candidate (a dream of hers). This allowed the company which sold her the car to reclaim the car. And because it had been within a certain time frame, they told my mother that they would make more money reselling it than making a deal with her to get it back.

This has left both myself and my mother with no vehicle. My work is 15 miles away, her VA clinic is on the other side of town. We both stretch our dollar as far as we can, and it is just not possible for us to get a vehicle without help in a time frame that would allow me to continue working. If I lose my job, then things get so much worse.

We are hoping to raise enough money to afford a down payment on a vehicle as soon as possible. The more we can raise the less the monthly payments and the better our quality of life might be. I do not like asking for help. I do not like relying on others. But I have exhausted every avenue I can find, and this is my last hope.
