I’m Mark Fletcher, a Welshman currently living in Medellin, Colombia. This spring, I’m embarking on an 870-mile (1400 km) trek around the coast of Wales. It’s a tough challenge for a 60-year-old like me, but I’ll be spurred on by the thought that I’ll be helping disadvantaged kids back home in Colombia.

I’ll be raising funds for a local charity that rescues children from perilous situations such as homelessness, malnutrition, abuse and child prostitution. The charity, Corporacion Superarse , attends around 800 girls, boys and teenagers monthly, and depending on their needs provides schooling, healthcare, nutrition, recreation and counselling using different resources such as a boarding school, day school, an Autonomous Life programme and playrooms.

I’ve seen the great work they do. That’s why, as I hike along the Wales Coastal Path, I’ll be striving to keep kids from the perils of Medellin’s streets. Will you help?

We met you on the path, 4 of us, 2 Swiss. Hope all is going well - you need to hand out a few more fliers!! Maybe all we contributors could help by asking our friends who are fellow hikers to contribute. Try asking the pubs and restaurants you stop at if you can hand out fliers, or the local shops if you can put one up on their notice boards. Good luck on the rest of your walk...........Gillian, Tom, Joerg, Mariann
