A Violin for Hannah

Donation protected
Thank you for coming to take a look at my gofundme page! I have created this fundraiser to gather funds to buy my own violin. I have managed to acquire half of what I need through private donors and awards, but I definitely need some help for the second half!  By donating to my fund, you would be helping to make it possible to own this violin, which would become a vital part of my career.  To get the quality of instrument that I need, it is most financially viable to buy a newly made violin, and so the violin I would like to buy is being made by the Viennese master violinmaker Julia Pasch. The violin I play at the moment is kindly on loan to me from the Royal College of Music, and so will have to be given back when I leave, which is why I must buy my own. This violin by Julia Pasch would be incredible tool that would set me up for my career as a professional musician.

Julia is an incredible luthier who puts so much care into what she does. I was very fortunate to be able to visit her workshop in Vienna and meet her in person. Trying out a few of her instruments and speaking to her about what she does, affirmed my love for her violins even more.

I will be more grateful than I can fully express for any donations. The violin will be ready for purchase by September 2019.

If you would like to support me in a different way, I am putting on a concert in the Music Hall in Aberdeen on Sunday the 23rd of June at 2pm. Tickets are available here: https://www.aberdeenperformingarts.com/whats-on/classical/hannah-renton-in-recital/2414#schedules

BIO

Hannah is from Aberdeen, Scotland and began learning the violin at the age of 7 with Marilyn Watson. She went on to gain a place in the National Children’s Orchestra of Scotland aged 9, and became leader of the orchestra aged 13.

Hannah began learning privately with Claire Telford aged 12, at which time she also gained a place in the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland with whom she enjoyed touring across the U.K and Ireland. Some concert venues included the Usher Hall, Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, Worchester Cathedral, the Sage Gateshead, and the Royal Albert Hall for and appearance at the BBC Proms.

Involvement with the orchestra led her to other opportunities including performances with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and the Simon Bolivar Orchestra.

Hannah passed her grade 8 with a very high distinction aged 14. She continued to have a huge involvement with orchestras in her area as leader of the Grampian Youth Orchestra, Aberdeen Symphony Orchestra and String Ensemble.

In 2014 she was offered a place in the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain as a string leader. Involvement with the orchestra lead to many exciting performances, including at the Royal Festival hall, Wigmore Hall, the Royal Albert Hall at the BBC Proms and at Berlin’s Konzerthaus.

In 2018 Hannah  was awarded a place in the European Union Youth Orchestra. She toured with the orchestra for a combined length of two months, performing around the world in some of the world’s best concert halls including Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and Dubai’s Opera House.  She has also been offered a place in the orchestra for 2019.

Through involvement with this orchestra she co-lead the 2nd violins at a performance in Paris, at the Arc de Triomphe, for the centenary of the end of the Second World War, televised in front of 70 world leaders. She also was involved in a project honoring Claudio Abbaddo, led by Ezio Bosso alongside players of the Lucerne Festival Orchestra and the Chamber Orchestra of Europe.

Hannah is now in the fourth year of her undergraduate degree at the Royal College of Music in London where studies with internationally renowned violin teacher Jan Repko.  She is supported by the Waddell Prize 2019, and plays a George Hudson Violin, kindly on loan to her from the RCM.
