In working solidarity with prominent leaders of Congo's peace movement, Civil Society, wildlife conservation and Western Advocacy leaders, we are creating interactive transmedia to share Congo's story, hope, and beauty with the world. To accomplish this, Socent's battle-tested foundry has united an improbable team of Congolese thought leaders and leading Western advocacy, top-tier Western game Developers and legendary comic illustrators, famous storytellers and award-winning filmmakers, Ph.D.'s, U.S. veterans and scientifically recognized prosocial community leaders.
WHY CONGO?
The Democratic Republic of Congo, a Great Lakes nation, is located in the center (heart) of Africa. Congo is known for its abundance of rain forest, wildlife and natural resources including freshwater, fertile land, and trillions of dollars in mineral resources such as copper, cobalt, diamonds, gold, coltan, and more. As opposed to providing Congo with prosperity, however, these resources have plagued Congo with conflict, corruption and Kleptocracy for hundreds of years. Since 1996 roughly 6 million Congolese have died due to conflict and almost 3 million are displaced and currently living in displacement camps.
CONFLICT ELECTRONICS
America’s Conflict Electronics economy has quietly produced the greatest humanitarian crisis of our generation. Due to predatory exploitation of Congolese and their world supply of mineral wealth, profitable demand for pop culture tech such as our game consoles, cellphones, tablets, laptops, PCs, and cameras is directly fueling our modern world's deadliest war and leading struggle for human rights.
SPECIES EXTINCTION
Unfettered transnational plundering of Congolese has also placed Congo’s wildlife at grave risk. As a result planet earth’s largest primates, Congo's endemic Eastern Lowland Gorillas (King Kong), are critically endangered and on the precipice of extinction.
Additionally, every year roughly 30,000 of Congo’s African Elephants (largest land mammals in the world) are slaughtered for their ivory. It is estimated only 400,000 remain.
A DIGITAL GRAPHIC NOVEL FOR PEACE

In working solidarity with LUCHA Youth Movement, Socent Studios is producing ARISE CONGOLESE! to share the ground-truth story of Congo's youth-organized fight to restore DRC's constitution back to power. LUCHA (fight for change) is a nonviolent, non-partisan, youth-organized citizen movement made up of Congolese from all walks of life, origins and religions who share in a united desire for a truly independent, constitutional, democratic and prosperous Congo, and who militate for its advent through nonviolent actions.
Volume 1: THE STORY OF YALALA is the three episode volume. Our protagonist is Yalala Binja , the 15 year old LUCHA activist who recently made international headlines when she and others were arrested for nonviolently protesting Dictator Joseph Kabila and a tyrannical Congolese government. Today LUCHA poses the greatest resistance to Congo's dictator, Joseph Kabila. As a result, LUCHA youth have been captured, tortured and killed by the Kabila-led state government. Socent Studios stands with LUCHA and all nonviolent Congolese youth risking life and limb together for peace.

On April 2nd, 2018 Cleveland, OH became the first Western city in history to shine for Congo's hope and human dignity. From twilight to sun up Northeast Ohio's most iconic landmark illuminated Cleveland, OH with the colors of Congo's flag as a global call for peace and an end to the deadliest humanitarian crisis since WWII.

Socent Studios was recently honored by Ohio's largest major newspaper The Plain Dealer as a Top 5 Northeast Ohio Disruptor for 2018 . Due to this honor and dedicated to Cleveland, Socent financed and produced RUST BELT RENAISSANCE RUST BELT RENAISSANCE for press distribution to capture and celebrate the ensemble narrative of Northeast Ohio's disruptive entrepreneurial movement. Recently selected to the 42nd Cleveland International Film Festival, this short documentary also features Socent's passion for Congo. RUST BELT RENAISSANCE will compete in CIFF 42's Local Heroes Shorts Program on April 11th, 9:30 PM at Tower City Cinemas.
