A Ride 2 Remember

5.8 Million Americans are currently suffering from Alzheimer's, a degenerative neurological condition that robs an individual of their awareness and of their identity, while leaving families financially and emotionally crippled. My name is Jack Conner and my family's story doesn't differ much from the norm. After being diagnosed with Alzheimer's and gradually losing her physical autonomy, my Grandma Arlene could no longer support herself and my Grandpa Erwin; so they came to live with us.  After seeing first hand the debilitating effect  of Alzheimer's on my Grandmother  and my family,  I came to realize how powerless we as a society are in the face of this condition. For this reason, research and prevention are of the utmost importance if we are to defend ourselves, our loved ones, and our families from the premature, drawn-out period of grief and generalized stress that are unavoidable with Alzheimer's. In the spring of 2018, we lost our grandmother to this disease, but now I plan to do whatever I can to raise awareness and funds for the continuation of promising treatment research being done by the Rocky Mountain Alzheimer's Disease Center. To that end, I am organizing an 1,800 mile Bicycle journey from my current home in Binghamton, NY to the Alzheimer's center in Aurora, CO. Along the way we will be raising money, spreading awareness, and advocating for those individuals who can no longer advocate for themselves. Our current goal is $5,000 by the start of the journey on June 1st, 2019. Every penny brings us one step closer to treatment, and one step closer to a cure. Together, we can stop Alzheimer's.
