HELP ME STOP WYOMING FROM BECOMING ANOTHER CALIFORNIA!

Friends,

These are critical times for Wyoming. Just like last year, we are facing a slew of tax hikes, and even new taxes. Last year, an uproar from Wyoming taxpayers helped stop almost half a billion dollars in higher taxes.

Today, the risks are even greater. In this coming session, our legislators will probably get to vote on a corporate income tax. That, together with a sales tax on food, higher local sales taxes, and more, will spell doom for the Wyoming economy.

Voters and taxpayers want to say no, but often they don't know how to formulate the alternative.

This think tank is going to provide the arguments, the theory and the practice that wins the debate over higher taxes. Support us now in our effort to build this new think tank! Donate to our efforts today.

What is a think tank?

It is a non-profit organization with a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS. It is educational and does not lobby legislators and it does not get involved in political campaigns.

How does it work?

Its small staff will produce educational material on the Wyoming economy, on the virtues of economic freedom and how to turn the theory of limited government into practical ideas. The Wyoming Center for Political Economy will also travel the state and meet with people to discuss how we can make life better for families and businesses in our state - without just having government grab more of our money.

How it is funded?

With tax-deductible donations. Some think tanks take big donations from big foundations or out-of-state organizations. The Wyoming Center for Political Economy will not do that. We will be dependent on support from the people of Wyoming.

What difference can it make?

Those who want higher taxes often win the argument by asking people "so what spending do you want us to cut?" and by painting horror images of schools with over-crowded classrooms and starving teachers. There is a better alternative, and we will explain it. We want you to know how to defend your opposition to higher taxes, and we want parents all over Wyoming to know how to formulate a successful argument for school choice and other reforms that can cut the cost of government without making life miserable for families and businesses.

It takes time to start a think tank, and time, sadly, is money. Help us get started! Make a small donation today!

Dear supporters,

Just a quick update. Don't despair: the think tank project is moving forward. It is in a phase right now that I have no direct influence over, which is always a bit frustrating. But bear with me - things are happening quietly.

It was in good part thanks to your support that I was encouraged to continue this project, despite the disappointing fundraising result. This think tank will happen.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks again!

Dear sponsors,

In addition to your generous contributions, there have been donations coming in outside of this GoFundMe site. However, the sum total is not even 40 percent of what I need in order to get this project going as intended. To still make the think tank happen, I have opened talks with a partner who has a different set of skills and resources than I have. This has increased the likelihood of a new think tank here in Wyoming, but it would be more broadly oriented than I had first intended. My work will of course be part of it.

The upside of this change is that I can still make this think tank happen despite the disappointing fundraising result. Personally, I see no downside, but if you have questions or concerns as to how this affects your donation, please contact me directly.

Thank you!

WILL BIG TAX SET THE AGENDA? - Have our opposition to higher taxes become loud enough to make a dent in the conversation that our candidates for governor will have? Or will they continue to talk about "more revenue" and rearranging the administrative deck chairs on the Titanic? http://www.wyoming.center/2018/10/will-candidates-for-governor-talk-taxes.html

Dear supporters,

Thanks in no small part to your commitment, I have spent today in Washington, DC for some meetings with people and organizations that could prove good allies in our effort to save Wyoming. I cannot reveal any details yet (when I can, you will be the first to know), but I can assure you that the meetings were successful. I am increasingly optimistic that we will be able to make a difference. Thank you again for your support!
