A Mother's Second Chance

Life can change suddenly with many unanswered why’s. This past week has been one of my hardest, and even harder for my best friend Helen Nguyen. It has left many of us grateful, humbled, and on our knees praying for a miracle. At 18 weeks pregnant, Helen’s 19 month-old daughter Kyndal was ready to be a big sister. For reasons unknown, God had other plans. On Tuesday August 12th, Helen suffered serious complications during her pregnancy. Complications, which resulted in the loss of a child, Journey and a brief loss of Helen’s life. While the name was selected long before this tragedy, baby Journey was meant for a life unseen by us on earth. She was so loved during her short life and we will miss her deeply. Miraculously, Helen was able to be saved to continue her purpose as a wife and a mommy to Kyndal. But that did not come without trial or tribulations. Kyndal may never know the experience of being a big sister. Helen has spent this past week on every possible machine for every major body function. She still has a long recovery ahead before she can even see Kyndal’s face, as children are not allowed in the ICU. Sadly, her outcome is still unknown. Little by little, she is fighting and making progress everyday. Though she is no where near ready to come home, as she continues to require life support and direct medical attention.
