A Kidney for Ashlyn

Donation protected
In 2014, 2 little girls were placed in our home by DCS. The case was medical neglect on the younger girl Ashlyn who was at Riley when we got her older sister Stacy. These girls stole our hearts! We soon realized that the neglect wasn't really moms fault. They had recently moved here from another state & were having issues getting everything transferred over & finding a new doctor who would take a child with Ashlyn's medical condition. In the meantime, they ran out of medication & Ashlyn ended up in the hospital. They had no support system & were in a new town! We fought for these girls & they were back home in no time. That Christmas, the girls gave me a necklace with 3 hearts intertwined & their mom told me that my hearts & the girls' would forever be connected. This necklace inspired the name “Borrowed Hearts.”
Now fast forward almost 4 years later, Ashlyn needs a kidney transplant. We knew it was coming because of her condition, it was just a matter of time. I had told their mom that when the time came I wanted to be tested. Well, guess what? I'M A MATCH!!!! I am in awe of how God orchestrated this how situation, it just shows that sometimes bad things happen for a purpose. If not for these girls being our foster daughters we would not have met & Ashlyn may not have found a donor match in time. GOD IS IN CONTROL & He brings beauty from ashes!
So, here's the part where you come in. Ashlyn & her family live in Florida now. The transplant will take place at Tampa General Hospital & I will travel there. My medical expenses while I am there will be covered by Ashlyn's insurance (praise GOD!) but I will need travel expenses & to cover my husband's lost wages so he can stay home with our 5 adopted children while I am gone. My plan is for myself & a friend/caregiver to fly to Tampa. There is a transplant house & also a Ronald McDonald house there but they are first-come, first-serve basis so there is no guarantee that we will get to stay for free. I will be there for up to 2 weeks for recovery & follow-up.  I also have to travel to Tampa for 3-5 days for pre-op testing & medical exams prior to the surgery. Please help us make this happen, help me save Ashlyn. Thank you & God Bless!!
