A DAD (Diabetic Alert Dog) for Olive

A couple of years ago, my beautiful, fierce, sassy, sweet niece, Olive, was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes.  She has risen to the challenge of T1D life like the champ that she is.   She is on a pump that helps regulate her blood sugar, but still experiences blood sugar highs and lows that are dangerous and scary. 
for this year:

"Harry Potter creatures - because I love them
Crystals - for their mystic powers
A camera - because I want to be like Mom
World Peace - because I HATE war
The end of Global Warming - because I love animals more than anything
A Hammer - so I can do demolition like Dad
Squishies - because they calm me
Gule Tama (?) - because I love him
A picture of Comet - because he is my favorite deer
And a Diabetic Alert Dog - please consider it."

Diabetic Alert Dogs are trained to recognize when their person is about to experience an unsafe blood sugar high or low and alert them so they can take steps to correct it.  These life-saving dogs are game-changers for people living with T1D.  But, MAN, are they expensive!  A DAD can cost anywhere from $8,000 to $20,000.   Olive's family is already grappling with the immense out-of-pocket costs just to provide her with insulin,  her pump and supplies, making a DAD for Olive out of reach.
