A Christmas Carol 30th Anniversary

Tax deductible
Please help Great Lakes Theater preserve northeast Ohio's favorite holiday tradition!

A Christmas Carol celebrates its 30th anniversary this year! Since its debut in 1989, our production of A Christmas Carol has delighted over 750,000 adults and students. While we invest in maintenance of the production each year, special resources are occasionally needed for more significant refurbishments, repairs and technological updates. This year is such an occasion.

Approximately 25,000 people will attend the production this season - 10,000 of which will be students - many experiencing live theater for the very first time. This campaign will help revitalize and repair the production to ensure that these families and students experience a show that is as vibrant today as it was when it debuted in 1989.

Your generous support will enable us to rebuild/refurbish many integral scenic, costume, prop and technical elements of the production, including, but not limited to the following:

* Restore of the ornate, hand-carved foam scenic elements.
* Rebuild "The cracking back-wall special effect" which dramatically reveals two of the ghosts.
* Rebuild the costume for "The Ghost of Christmas Past."
* Refurbish and update the technology for the illuminated, Dickensian “street scene” window units
* Replace the aging fog machines that are integral for establishing the show’s haunting scenic environment.
* Recreate the costumes for all of the Young Acting Company members.
* Replace the furniture in Scrooge's office and the Cratchit Family's home.
* Rebuild all actor wigs and 18th-century bonnets.

Our inaugural production of A Christmas Carol was originally built to run for 5 years. Due to popular demand, the show has gone on to run for 30! Some of the production elements have not been rebuilt since 1989.

Your investment will refresh A Christmas Carol so that grandparents and grandchildren a decade hence will experience the excitement and splendor of this beloved holiday classic. Gifts of any size are greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance for helping to ensure that A Christmas Carol remains a vibrant holiday tradition in our community!
