**update** We wanted to send an update that sadly, Grady did not respond well to his treatments and crossed the rainbow pug bridge. Thank you to everyone who has donated to Ashley & Grady. It will go towards the massive ER bill Ashley is left with and will definitely help her out during such a sad time. Thank you everyone and rest in peace Grady <3
Grady is my sister's 1 and a 1/2 year old pug who recently began having seizures out of nowhere. Yesterday, after having 2 more severe seizures, Ashley brought him to her vet to stabilize him and then straight to the ER in Swansea to find out what is going on. From there they sent her to another ER in Rhode Island where they did an MRI and diagnosed Grady with necrotizing meningoencephalitis AKA Pug Dog Encephalitis. PDE is an inflammatory disease of the central nervous system that is usually progressive and fatal without immediate treatment.
I know that Ashley will not feel right asking for anybody's help, even though she is the one out there helping complete strangers every day as a paramedic. So, that is why I am setting this up for her and Grady. The ER visit and MRI alone cost over $4,000, never mind how much it is going to cost for follow ups and all of his life-long treatments. A treatment plan of seizure medications, anti-inflammatories, and chemo could give him a longer, comfortable, happy life and it's a chance she has to take for him, just like anyone would for their own kids. Anyone who knows Ashley knows that her pugs are her actual children.
