A Celebration for Charles

Our father Charles was loved by so many for his fun loving personality. Charles always had an ear to lend to anyone who needed it, and opened his heart to those who were hurting or needed to feel loved. On Thursday June 27th, our dad was freed from a long battle with Stage 4 Colon Cancer that had spread to his lungs, liver, and stomach as well. His peaceful and swift departure has left many of us heartbroken but happy that he is no longer suffering.
Since Charles fought till the end, he did not make any arrangements for his memorial and did not get life insurance during his life span. As hard as this is for everyone that our dad is gone, we ask for help from his friends and family that we can all come together to help give Charles the proper send off. My dad did ask to be cremated and his ashes spread, but we want everyone to experience closure through portraits, music, and shared stories of the life our dad lived.
We have set his memorial service to be July 6, 2019 at Van Hoe Funeral Home in East Moline, IL and hope to have the funds for his memorial as soon as possible to keep this date. The memorial service will be to celebrate his life and will not be formal and the time will be from 2-4 and at 4 we will open the floor for prayer, stories, and anything friends and family might want to share about Charles and how he impacted their life. We also hope to have a gathering after but are unsure due to our financial circumstances.
