Ms. Zahan Survival Fund

With the support of Asiyah Women’s Center, Sakhi for South Asian Women, and Womankind, 20-year-old Ms. Zahan is reclaiming her life.

The NYTimes article (https://nyti.ms/2GcTUHD‬) uplifts her story of surviving a forced and abusive marriage. It also details the chain of fearless advocates who stood with her as she navigated New York’s crude systems and services for survivors of domestic violence—NYPD, city shelters, legal aid for divorce proceedings, and more. She’s found a safe place to live and enrolled in college for the Fall semester.

Ms. Zahan continues to be in isolation and afraid in her path to liberation. She’s unable to make ends meet. Her financial recovery and freedom are crucial for her survival in a new home, in a new city.

Will you contribute to Ms. Zahan’s Survival Fund?

Here’s what Ms. Zahan needs:
1. She’s working part-time and unable to front $550 rent money for April. We will raise rent for two-four months.
2. A full-time job. She is willing to travel. Send leads to [email redacted].

*I am an older sister to her. I am in touch with her frequently to ensure she is okay. Ms. Zahan’s survival matters to me. I want you to join me in her fight to thrive.
