Everest attempt for #zackontrack

Donation protected
In February 2016 (the 12th-13th Feb weather permitting) Pete Culhane will be attempting to "Everest" Mt. Wellington in Hobart to both raise awareness of Lymphoma (cancer of the lymphatic system), and funds for Lymphoma Australia (www.lymphoma.org.au) who are currently aiming to raise $200,000 to fund new support and research projects that will benefit thousands of patients across Australia.

The ride is in support of a talented young Tasmanian cyclist Zack Gilmore who has recently been diagnosed and started undertaking treatment for non-Hodgkin Lymphoma, the fifth most common cause of cancer in Australia, causing 11% of all childhood cancers. Lymphoma is one of the fastest growing cancers in the western world, and unlike lung cancer and melanoma the cause is not known.

To complete an "Everest" cycling attempt is a fiendishly simple concept, and a fiendishly difficult ride to complete. Pick any climb, anywhere in the world and ride repeat after grinding repeat until you have notched up 8,848m of vertical alititude in one ride. For Mt. Wellington this will equate to more than 10 laps of the 10km climb within a 24 hours period.

All proceeds from the ride will head directly to Lymphoma Australia where there aim is to reduce the impact of this cancer in the community through advocacy, awareness, education, support and research.
