Collibratory [kəˈlībre tôrē] - taken from Collaborative, Library, and Laboratory - a shared space for hands-on learning and technology integration through student-created projects and student-centered activities
As we look to the future, Westborough teachers want to change the dynamics of our classrooms and move forward with innovative curriculum that ignites passion in our students in STEAM and the Humanities. We aim to provide equitable access to supplies and materials for all student projects. As part of our evolution, we need a space for students to come together to share ideas, produce content, and connect ideas.
Help support Westborough as we reconfigure, refresh, and rebrand our existing library into the center of learning for our community, ready for the start of the 2017-18 school year. Our vision includes:
MEETING
*A flexible space with mobile nesting tables that can be moved into a variety of configurations or even open space for our PTSA, Faculty, and District meetings
*A gathering space for community events and guest presenters
LEARNING
*A well-stocked supply room of crafting materials, varieties of paper, fabric, cardboard, upcycled materials, and more for creating projects and models
*Group collaboration including mobile white boards for brainstorming ideas
*Virtual reality field trips, gallery space, debates, and other specialty use
MAKING
*Space for students to deconstruct and reconstruct objects to learn about purposes, internal workings, and connections of the objects to the world
*Tools and machines for prototyping and fabricating inventions and innovations, including sewing machines, 3D printers, vinyl cutters, a laser cutter, and more
*Computers and audio/video equipment for video production and animation
Join us in bringing this vision to fruition and changing the educational opportunities of all our Westborough Wildcats!
