If you have lived in Orange, been part of the local music scene or had a wedding or event locally, you probably know Wendy Herckt. Born, raised and living life in Orange, Wendy loves her community. She adores bringing events to life for mom's-to-be or a bride and groom. Knowing Wendy means you are part of her family. She is a daughter, an aunt, a niece, a lover, a granddaughter, a sister, a friend, and a caring motherly figure to her extensive network of friends. To know Wendy is to be loved by Wendy.
Wendy is also fighting breast cancer. While recovering from a knee replacement surgery, Wendy was diagnosed with breast cancer. More specifically, Triple Positive Invasive Ductile Carcinoma (ER+ & PR+ & HER2+). Immediately she was propelled into the world of doctors, scans, labs, and extensive appointments. Recovering from knee replacement and facing a long and arduous battle against cancer.
For anyone facing such adversity, both knee replacement and breast cancer, it can overwhelm even the strongest person. But it doesn't end there. Very early in her battle to expel the cancer from her body, Wendy lost her job. Wendy is now without a job and without her standard income. State disability is limited and does not cover all her expenses. Keeping her insurance in mid treatment is CRITICAL to her life which also means she must pay the cobra insurance premium or face cancellation. An expense of over $700 per month. She cannot risk lapsing her insurance. Her life depends on keeping her team of care providers.
The cost associated with living, eating healthy and battling a life threatening illness is all consuming. Wendy's journey will consist of the following:
1) 6 total rounds of chemo. One round every 3 weeks of the following "cocktail"; T.H.C.P.
2) Hormone therapy
3) Lumpectomy or mastectomy - to be determined
4) Radiation
5) Second knee replacement
Friends, family and community, we ask for your help to support Wendy by providing a donation. If you know Wendy, then you also know she has always opened her home to her family, her network and friends of her network. Always willing to feed a friend or acquaintance. Always willing to provide support to those in a difficult position. To listen, provide a shoulder or a comfortable room and home to those without.
