Growing populations, climate change, war and socio-political conflicts all contribute to instability in the already fragile African food supply.
Humanitarian aid organizations are doing their best to respond to ongoing hunger crises in Yemen, Ethiopia, Somalia, South Sudan, Chad, Nigeria and Mauritania.
In spite of these donations from aid organizations, hunger continues to be a problem year after year, and the problem is getting worse.
Unfortunately, children are the ones who suffer the most. An estimated 1.4 million children could die this year from famine-like conditions in South Sudan, Somalia, Nigeria, and Yemen, according to the U.N. children’s agency.
According to World Vision, About 10.9 million people need humanitarian assistance in the Lake Chad Basin, which includes northeastern Nigeria, northern Cameroon, eastern Niger, and southwestern Chad.
More than 500,000 children are suffering severe levels of malnutrition that if they survive, can cause stunted growth and lifelong health problems.
We-Empower is on a mission to end hunger in Africa by teaching farmers how to be more efficient and productive. Our team of agricultural experts has been working in Africa for many years.
We understand the needs of African farmers, and we are helping small farmers build self-sustainable businesses. Many farmers in Africa are women. We want to empower these hard-working women farmers to earn more and receive the recognition and respect that they deserve.
We are not an aid organization – We believe that if you give a person a fish, you will feed that person for a day.
If you can teach that person to fish, they will be able to feed themselves for a lifetime. This is our vision of the future.
