W.O.W. BLACK TIE FUNDRAISER

Tax deductible

Warriors on Wheels of Metropolitan Detroit is non-profit public charity, advocating that Disability Rights, are Human Rights.  For the past 10 years, we have been on the front line, standing up, if you will, to the injustices that people with disabilities face daily.  We have won some battles and many are ongoing.  It has not been an easy journey, but we haven't given up.  Our organization runs strictly on a labor of love.  With a minimal membership fee of $25.00 per year, we have sustained ourselves on pure passion.  We have gotten a few grants, but none of the positions are paid.  The president, secretary, and board members continue to work on the behalf of persons with disabilities to make a difference for our future.  We have met with the mayors of this city, city council members, state representatives, congress, senators,  judges, civil rights attorneys, the department of justice, HUD,  Detroit Department of Transportation, unions, the ombudsmen; written letters, held demonstrations and protest, engaged city council to the wheelchair challenge, sat on boards, participated in panel discussions, recieved certificates and awards; all because we want a barrier free community where people with disabilities are respected and are welcomed by the fact that public places, hotels, entertainment venues are wheelchair accessible and accomodating.  This fundraiser, at $45 per/person, will basically only cover the cost of Dinner and the souvenir booklet.  Our grand total for this fundraiser is $50,000.00.  Reaching out to philanthropic companies and other organizations and individual donors to reach this goal.   If you will find it in your heart to help us make this event a huge success, we need you.  Whatever you can give to help us reach our goal is tax deductible and greatly appreciated.   The name of our event is:

"OUR STORY...Could be Yours."  at any moment you could be in our shoes and you shouldn't be viewed any differently, become chained to your home or forced out because the doors aren't wide enough or you can't afford the ramp for the stairs.  We are planning a great event with good entertainment, special vendors and a silent auction with very nice items.  Artwork, Color TV, Live Kitten (8wks w/shots & supplies) and more.....

Deadline for this campaign has been changed to April 1, 2018.
