ABOUT ABDALLAH KHAN:
After birth AbdAllah was diagnosed with “Swear Neonatal Epilepsy” and spent first few weeks of his life in Pediatric ICU. His condition was very serious & we were told he is not going to survive. Every time any doctor or nurse approached us we expected news of him passing away… as a mother, I only had two things, prayers and tears, in abundance… With mercy of God, AbdAllah survived, and countless challenges in life started to unravel with every passing year.

His disabilities aside, he is a very social and happy 20 years old young man. He is delight to all who know him. He is 100% dependent for all his basic, hygienic, medical & everyday needs. He cannot walk, cannot talk or cannot do anything for himself. This is his last year at school. After graduation, he is going to attend day programs and other leisure activities (swimming, story times, parks, etc.) in the community, along with medical appointments, visits to therapists & medical tests on weekly basis. For Scoliosis, Spinal Fusion Surgery was done on him in 2016 and now he has 38 titanium screws with 2 rods fused in his back to straighten the spine (he is an Iron Man… literally).

Update 11-MAY-2019: On Wednesday May 8th, 2019, we met with AbdAllah's Ophthalmologist, regarding Cataract in his left eye (he now blind in the left eye until surgery is done). We learned that Cataract is developing in his right eye as well. Soon he will not be able see through either eyes, until surgery is done. This surgery needs to be done within 6 month, or in doctor's words "as early as possible". Because being unable to see will develop long term behavioural issues in him. Please keep him/us in your prayers. We are getting ready for his younger brother Ahmad's surgeries within 7 weeks and now, right after him, we need to prepare for AbdAllah's...
AbdAllah's surgery it self is not a big issue, the kind of care he needs post-op is...

ABOUT AHMAD KHAN:
Ahmad Khan was diagnose with Spastic Diplegic Cerebral Palsy (SDCP) & GDD at the age of one year. He did not walk until age 4 years, with the help of a specially designed walker. He still needs Special Walker to help him walk. He gets injections in his legs (from age 3 years and going on) every 4 months to help him keep walking. There are few surgeries (muscle stretching & leg rotation) in his near future.
He is a brave, happy and shy boy. He is soon going to start Para-Soccer training. He also loves to swim and play on his iPad.

Update 28-MAY-2019: So finally, today we learned about the exact date for Ahmad’s upcoming surgeries (on both legs). It’s 25th June, 2019. There will be 4 types of surgeries done on each leg, which will take about 8 to 10 hours with two surgeons working together on each leg. There are pre-op appointments to attend and a lot of prep work needs to be done, as Ahmad will be staying at the Hospital in Toronto post-op (for around 8 weeks) and one parent will be with him at all times.
I want to thank everyone who contributed to my campaign for “Wheelchair Accessible Van”, all of you who shared it and all your best wishes for both my Special kids and our family… Thank You!
We are still not there yet in terms of funds to make the Accessible Van purchase. Please share and contribute in this last 10 days of blessed Ramadan… it will help us in great deal. May Allah reward you all in best ways. Aameen.
Update 10-MAY-2019: We learned last week that Ahmad is going to have major surgeries on both of his legs within the next 7 weeks. We will learn about the exact date within few days. Ahmad will be bound to wheelchair for 6 months after surgeries done and recovery period is up to 3 years.

TRANSPORTATION NEEDS:
Every week, AbdAllah & Ahmad go to therapists, attend swimming sessions, and participate in leisure activities, attend medical appointments, plus, there are family gatherings to go and enjoy. Up to this point, we’ve been using a regular vehicle for their transportations to wherever they needs to go. But now with AbdAllah growing up, we, his parents are getting old. He is gaining weight steadily and it has become more difficult to lift and transfer him into a regular vehicle.
After AbdAllah's Spinal Fusion Surgery, he now has a specialized wheelchair specifically designed for his new curvature. New wheelchair is larger, heavier, unfold-able and cannot fit in a regular vehicle, so wheelchair accessible van is a “Need” now, rather than a “want”.

ABDOUT THE VEHICLE:
Due to the need to sit in a specific position (due to Scoliosis and spinal fusion surgery), AbdAllah's wheelchair is designed specifically for him. We need an accessible van where he is safely sitting & positioned in his wheelchair, goes straight in the van and be safe on the ride.

Plus Ahmad's Special Walker (which is also larger in size) cannot fit in a normal vehicle.

A minivan with side entry for wheelchair will be perfect for them. All money raised through this Campaign will be used to buy a "Wheelchair Accessible Van" for these wonderful boys.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?
If you can contribute, awesome. If not, I understand. What you can do to help is share, share and share on your page with family & friends, plus tweet, text, e-mail, or whatever you can do to spread the word to help us reach our goal quickly.

Please Note: This campaign is Zakat eligible.

We thank you in advance.

UPDATE 01-June-2019:
Great News... With all your help, we have reached our goal to raise $50,000 for the purchase of Wheelchair Accessible Van. I cannot thank you all enough enough who contributed and/or shared in this 7 months long campaign. There are still contributions coming, so i've raised the goal amount to $56,000 so we could buy a "Porch Lift" (cost $6700), currently we are using a very narrow temporary ramp which is not safe... a bit of trip and wheelchair can fall off the ramp.
Thank you all for your kind words, understanding my family's needs & your support. I appreciate it with all my heart!
