Blessed Are the Peacemakers: One Man's Journey to Discover the Face of Palestine

Help Me Finish a Companion Study Guide for My Movie on Peacemaking.

It's been about 2 years since the crazy idea to make a movie about peacemaking in Israel/Palestine was hatched. So much has happened and so many wonderful stories have been told, connections made, and a growing commitment to peacemaking in audiences who've watched my movie. I am so grateful to each person who supported our project, believing we had something to say.

Seattle's Andrew Larsen is a peacemaker with a high-powered lens. Larsen is called to build bridges between Muslims and Christians using his breathtaking photography. He calls it "Visual Peacemaking." The ordained minister has traveled throughout the Middle East, armed only with a Canon 5D Mark 3 camera as he captures images and builds lasting friendships.
Help Larsen and Emmy award-winning producer John Yeager produce a documentary tracing Larsen's journey to the Holy Land (including Israel & the West Bank) to tell the story of people in this mysterious and often misunderstood part of the world. What Andrew Larsen has learned serves as a lesson to us all; if you have enough love in your heart and you can visualize peace--it just might happen.

John and Andy bring extensive experience in visual storytelling and peacemaking. John has won 17 Emmys for his work in broadcast television and news, while Andy's photography has landed in many publications including the National Geographic. We believe there is hope for peace when people find their better selves, and their stories are told.

Please help us tell these stories. Support this effort in visual peacemaking. We need your help!

Following are samples of pictures you can chose from to receive your coupon award for your donation. For more options see: Andy's photos.

I've now screened the movie about a dozen times from Chicago to Seattle. Canada too. We had around 175 show up for my premier at Quest, my home church in Seattle, and its been covered by local radio and newspapers (see this link for stories: http://worldlyholiness.com/peacemaking/movie/).

As I read how this movie impacted people in our premier I feel stirred to take another step to help people understand this tragic conflict and subsequently--how to make a difference. At least to try. Much of the noise around this conflict has a way of paralyzing efforts to find a solution. I think that is perhaps the biggest danger and I truly believe as followers of Christ we need to have better answers and we need to respond.

And this brings me to my next step. And maybe yours. Would you consider joining me in our next step? I'd like to produce a 6 part series (with video, discussion guide questions on the 6 parts, time line of the conflict, a facts sheet, ways to respond, + other resources). I also plan to share my own journey in peacemaking in Israel/Palestine. Going into this conflict, I found my own theological and ethical framework lacking so I've had to do some hard work, with my Bible open, to find a better foundation. I’d also like to answer the question raised in the movie, “why do I keep going back?” And lastly, what can viewers like you do to make a difference.

As a thank-you for helping, I’d like to give you a gift that I also offered to those who contributed the 1st time around with the actual movie. Check out the award levels and make a contribution please. Hint--my next year’s 2017 Worldly Holiness Calendar is one of the awards.

Seeking to be a peacemaker, not just a peace talker.

Rock Star endorsement #1: Eugene Cho, my pastor

To say that this is a "feel good" documentary would be simply misleading. This courageous documentary seeks to capture the stories of the complicated, chaotic, and painful violence of the Holy Land - and in particular, between Muslims and Jews. In a culture where it's far too easy and tempting to vilify and demonize the "other", Larsen and Yeager engage the honorable work in humanizing this conflict. I confess that my heart can grow weary and cynical but this documentary was powerful in that in shares stories of real, ordinary people - on both sides - engaging in the important work of peacemaking. This is hopeful and important.

What: The producers of the new documentary: "Blessed Are The Peacemakers: One Man's Journey to Discover the Face of Palestine" would like to invite you to our premier.

When & Where: January 29th. 7pm. Quest Church (1401 NW Leary Way. Seattle, WA)

Become immersed for an evening in the sites, sounds and stories of the current conflict in the Holy Land and find hope and inspiration from courageous peacemakers.

We've changed the title a little to reflect how this journey has changed me--slightly. I can't pretend to capture all the divergent views on peacemaking in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. I keep expanding and listening to as many voices as possible but also have felt compelled to give voice to the quiet, often marginalized people in this struggle for peace--the Palestinians. I'm now doing research on distribution and laying the ground work for a companion study guide. Planning also to submit the movie to the Seattle Int'l Film Festival. This is getting exciting. Donations at this point will help me market, distribute and build my audience. The companion guide is intended to help small groups, book clubs, and Sunday School classes delve deeper into the stories and issues addressed in the movie. Thanks to all for your faith in this project. I believe in peacemaking and I believe in peacemakers.
