What Is Nepal Outreach?  
Nepal Outreach is a program to help individuals, specifically women, who are homeless and have children to support. The program is designed to help restore dignity, security and financial independence for these women by offering them work in exchange for a monthly wage used to support their families needs. In addition, it offers opportunity to achieve full independence allow
ing individuals to work towards housing and schooling for their children. The program promotes the idea that with structure and opportunity an individual can create and sustain a balanced, secured and bright future for themselves and their children while escaping poverty and breaking the cycle for further generations.  


Why Nepal?
While traveling in Nepal to film a documentary Kim Ward and Paul Templer  discovered an ongoing problem of poverty in Kathmandu. This poverty is resulting in women being homeless and unable to support their children or offer their childre
n an education and pathway to a brighter future. Villages of women who fled from India have found themselves displaced and homeless in a foreign country unable to sustain a life of balance. The women we have met are hard working, devoted mothers who seek a secure, financially stable home life off the streets of Kathmandu, however there are little resources available to help these women obtain th
is objective.


What kind of work is offered by the Templer Foundation?  
The Nepal Outreach Program offers women the opportunity to be involved in the design, creation and sales of quilting goods. Fabric sourced from local venders is used to create one of a kind hand made quilts. The women involved in our program work from a schedule they create, allowing them to take control of their future and grow in the program at a pace that is comfortable for them. The purchasing of the materials, layout, design and final creation are all part of the work offered through this program. By utilizing the skills and strengths these women already have we have created a work environment that requires very little training allowing the individuals in the program to see almost immediate results from their participation.

How Your Donation Will Help!

Phase One: In August of 2017 Paul Templer and Kim Ward rolled out the Nepal Outreach Program. After a trip to Nepal  lead them to the makeshift home of Vimla Devi, it opened their eyes to the poverty that exists on the backstreets of Kathmandu. On August 1st, 2017 the first money wire went through to the women in the amount of $1500 dollars which was allocated for food and supplies needed to allow the women to start crafting quilts. The women purchased $750 dollars of sewing materials and cloth and spent the next four weeks designing, creating and making  ten handmade quilts. The program is a success but we need help in this first year to establish some real change for these women. 

Here is how your donation will help and where the money will go. The first $3,500 dollars raised will go directly to the children of these women for enrollment tuition. With this money we can get all the children in this village enrolled in school for one year. After one year we anticipate the sales from their sewing company to support further funding for their children's education.

After the children are taken care of we would like to designate $12,000 dollars to securing housing for each of the fifteen ladies for one year. We have already secured housing for our lead woman Vimla and the results of her having a safe and secure environment to call home have been tremendous in the success of this program. For $800 a year we are able to secure proper housing for each woman and her children. We anticipate the women being able to cover their next year's rent off the growth of their sewing business.
Finally  we are asking for an additional $9,000 dollars so we can fund the women's sewing business and home supplies for the next six months which will allow them to accelerate their business and purchase supplies needed to grow their sewing empire. This breaks down to just over $1500 dollars a month for fifteen women.

If we exceed our donation request we plan to use the money for a medical fund for the women and children.

Vimla Devi was born in India and escaped and fled from a life she did not want.  Currently located in Kathmandu she is the matriarch for a group of women who came over to Nepal from India and have found themselves displaced, homeless and with little resources in a foreign country.   Vimla was the first to start our program and today she is living in a home, has a job through our efforts and has stepped up to be a pillar of strength and inspiration for the women in her village. With her help we grew our program seemingly overnight from one woman to fifteen. Vimla is a bright, talented, devoted mother who given the chance will create global change for underprivileged women in developing world countries.

Kim Ward lives in West Bend Wisconsin, USA with her husband of 17 years and her two children Jordan and Kallie. For 12 years she served as a sales clerk taunted with the daily thought of “what’s my mission and purpose in life”? Paul Templer, Chief Executive Officer

Paul Templer grew up in Africa (Zimbabwe).
