VERY BAUHAUS
...is it a film, or a play?

An Expanded Cinema/Theatrical Dance Performance produced by the International Burning Circus. Made with generous support of Mono No Aware Film and sponsored by The Glove (DIY experimental arts space in Bushwick).

*Performance Dates*
December 8th @ Trans pecos
December 9th @ Dream House Productions (Spectrum)

This will be the first & official ~*LIVE EXPERIENCE*~ produced by the International Burning Circus. A theater/film collective currently living in New York City.

The realization for this piece was first expressed through a tintype taken in January, 2017, with an AC-unit silver TUBE worn by Brittany Markert. Which then grew into a short film that was written and shot by Julie Orlick and Fernando Velez in June 2017. Which was then turned into a play when the idea was brought to Nathan Graves in August 2017...and the rest is history.

"Tube Lady", Brittany Markert . January 2017. Tintype by Julie Orlick.

Inspired by the Triadic Ballet by Oskar Schlemmer of the School of Bauhaus. Elements of experimental film intertwined with dance, large & bizarre costumes, expressing emotion through shapes & mimes. That of which a mime can only express through their face, a shape can only express through movement. A silent, no - word spoken piece, with an incredible soundtrack edited by Nathan Graves and music selection by Fernando Velez. Highlights of this performance are costumes hand crafted by Iggy Soliven that are gauranteed to blow your minds. The Expanded Cinema element of this performance is a triple-projection shot on a 16mm Bolex, edited on a steenbeck and projected on 16mm film.
