Vanessa's Disc Replacement Surgery in Germany

I never knew how Chronic Pain can change a person’s life. I have heard about it but until my wife had to go through it, I never understood how it can destroy a person.
13 years ago, my wife Vanessa started having back issues that were mostly manageable but progressively became worse. The last 4 years have been hard. Vanessa has had every injection that you can think of for pain; years of physiotherapy with no progress. So many doctors’ appointments walking out with no help.
Three years ago, Vanessa was diagnosed with degenerative disc disease and told that there is a long waiting list for surgery, so be patient and wait! Her L4 L5 has been reduced to bone on bone and the discs above and below have started the degenerative process. The pain is debilitating some days, numbness in her legs and feet, pain shooting down my lower back and legs. Daily tasks are hard for her and she feels like she can’t be the wife and mother that she used to be.
Chronic pain makes your life stop in an instance. The mental aspect of the pain is horrible. It is so hard to see her sad; she feels worthless and so tired all of the time. She yearns to be the wife and mother that she once was, full of energy and happiness.
We have found an answer to our prayers and its Germany!
On July 2,2019 Vanessa will be having surgery in Germany at the ONZ Medical Center to have an Artificial Disc replacement, a titanium implant to restore her movement and stop the degenerating process in her spine. The waiting list in Canada is far too long! If she waits for the Canadian doctors it will be at least a year away, and we have been waiting for two years already.
Because the surgery is out of the Country there is no coverage. Nothing from Alberta Health Care or our health insurance. The total cost of the surgery is $43,500.00 Canadian plus flights. That sounds like a lot of money but I would do anything to help her. This is a small amount for her to have her life back.
I have decided to start a GO FUND ME page in hopes that we can raise some funds towards the surgery.
I am hoping that this page will make a difference!
