Inventors Saving the Patent System

BACKGROUND
In 2013, when a series of bad laws and court decisions rendered Paul Morinville's patents worthless, he hopped in his truck and drove to Washington D.C. Congressional staffers asked him which lobby he was with, and when he explained that he was simply an inventor they were baffled and sent him away.

So he put up a website and printed business cards. The next day he went back and introduced himself as President of US Inventor, representing the independent inventors of America. It worked.

Paul and his cohort Randy Landrendeau spent the following weeks meeting with legislators and explaining how the patent system had been politicized at the expense of inventors and innovation. For the first time in decades Congress was hearing truth about patents from actual inventors.

They incorporated as a 501(c)(4) advocacy organization and expanded to include over 13,000 inventors from around the country.  Their accomplishments include:

# Saving the patent system a first time by persuading the House of Representatives to table the draconian H.R. 9 - Innovation Act, a bill that enjoyed 80% bipartisan support before actual inventors arrived on the scene.

# Filing over a dozen Amicus Briefs at the Supreme Court and Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit going toe-to-toe with the bar associations, law professors, and tech giants.

# Monitoring USPTO policies and budgets for compliance with the law and fairness to inventors, holding the agency accountable via letters, public comments, and public statements. 

# Publishing over two dozen articles advocating for inventors and patent rights on sites such as ipwatchdog, realclearpolitics, and techpolicy. 

# Traveling thousands of miles to inventor clubs, conferences, and rallies to advocate for and educate inventors.

CALL TO ACTION
The big corporations have treated patents as a political favor to be manipulated with hundreds of millions of dollars paid to campaigns, advertising, and full time lobbyists.

US Inventor has become a formidable counter to that on a shoe-string budget, and have exhausted our resources. We have stopped the infringer lobby in their tracks, but now we have to seize the opportunity and breathe life into our comatose patent system by:

1. Ending the PTAB tribunal that destroys 90% of issue patents

2. Restoring patent rights for useful inventions implemented in software

3. Restoring to patent holders the Constitutional right to an injunction

$2,000 - Pro Bono Amicus Brief - printing and filing expenses only (multiple available)

$1,000 - One week of professional media consulting (multiple available)

$500 - Monthly overhead - web maintenance, accounting, legal, insurance, subscriptions

$250 - Gas and maintenance for a road trip to D.C. to meet with legislators and USPTO representatives (multiple available)

$10 - Adwords for 500 impressions on our inventor petition (multiple available)

$1 - Adwords 30 views on our inventor youtube videos (multiple available)


CLOSING
Our nation's future will be bright and strong if we keep the promise made to inventors of an exclusive right to their discoveries.  It was a genius plan of our founding fathers, proven to foster the greatest innovations the world has known for 220 years.

Our patent system was #1, now  we are #10 in the world. Let's bring it back, innovation and investments back, and the everyday person's chance to pursue their American dreams back!
