Ultra Energetic Creators Go Global!
Our dedicated team of 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students from Mukilteo Elementary have been creating, innovating and practicing all year for their Destination ImagiNation tournament. The Ultra Energetic Creators took first place at the both the regional and state tournaments - with commanding leads over their opponents. The next step is the global final in Knoxville, TN, May 19-23, 2015.
The Ultra Energetic Creators compete in the Structural Challenge category. This year's challenge is called Lose to Win: a challenge requiring that the team use their engineering skills to design and build the lightest structure possible able to support the weight of a 10 pound pressure board. The team must also perform an original skit that must feature their talents, incorporate their structure as part of the story, and use a removal tool also of their own design to remove parts of the structure while continuing to support the pressure board. The more overall weight lost during the presentation, the more points the team earns.
The financial cost of attending the global finals is great: $715 in conference costs, and $500 in travel costs for each student. The teams must also provide for the travel and conference costs of their school district chaperone. Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated by these students!
