Who will benefit from your generosity? My son. His name is Christian, and he plays the tuba.
Christian graduates from high school next month, so soon he will need to turn in his school-leased instrument for the last time after playing for six years. For many people, that wouldn't be a very big deal, but it will be for him.
You see, he was clinically depressed for a time, and music helped save his life these last couple of years. The thought of him not being able to keep doing the one thing he truly loves is cause for concern. When he realized how he won't have access to continuing playing tuba next month, his disappointment was apparent. I don't think he had quite connected what would happen until that moment. There isn't often a clear way to help someone with depression, but I know that playing the tuba helps him. And it would be greatly appreciated if you would consider helping me to help him.
Tubas are not a small purchase (literally and financially), so I've been researching cost, and with the instrument, accessories, shipping, and the GoFundMe fees, I estimate needing the amount listed to purchase a nice tuba that is decent quality for community orchestra, possibly in college, and other opportunities.
Graduation is May 19, so I'd like to be able to print off any messages left here and the progress on this fundraiser, so he can see that he will still have access but even better--his own tuba.
So I am asking everyone I know and even everyone they know to help this single mom get her boy a tuba, so he can keep on finding his song, his reason for living, his one thing he truly loves to do.
My gratitude runs deep as I ponder even the idea of being able to reach out to my friends, family, and social connections to help my child access something I cannot afford to give him. Anyone who simply reads this and considers sharing a portion of what they have with him, I thank you. It is all so humbling to think about.
