Feeding 10,000 with Transfernation

I'll open with a question. Have you ever been to an event and wondered what was going to happen to all of the extra food?
I did. All the time.
My name is Samir and 3 years ago my friend Hannah and I had a dream. We wanted to find a way to use all the extra food at events to help the people who needed it most.
With that basic vision we poured our heart and soul into launching Transfernation . Transfernation started out as idea in 2013, but today, Transfernation is a nationally recognized 501(c)3 non-profit which ensures that extra food from events goes toward supporting underserved communities across New York City.
We operate by enabling event planners and corporate cafes to easily notify us when there is excess food (through an app). Our food runners rescue all the extra and donate it to local shelters within the hour. We partner with a number of corporations including NBC, DavisPolk, Instacart, Hale and Hearty, and LinkedIn.
In 2016 Transfernation rescued 40,000 pounds of food, impacted 25,000 lives, and became self-sustaining. We are able to provide high quality food to people at a rate of $0.65 cents per day, which is among the best in the world.
But it's not enough.
Going forward we hope to rescue over 100,000 pounds of food per year and feed people for under $ 0.25 cents per day. Our new dream is be able to provide for a family of 5 for every dollar we get. Along the way we will support additional communities, bring on team members, operate in new cities, and most importantly rescue more food.
To get there in 2017 we need YOUR help because this #GivingTuesday (WEEK) LinkedIn for Good will match ALL LinkedIn Employee donations (with your LinkedIn email) three times. Donations above $25.00 can be matched a fourth time by LinkedIn Matching Gifts.
That means if you donate $100.00 Transfernation will receive $500.00. This allows us to feed approximately 750 people.
LinkedIn Family you've already done so much for us; from fundraising, to SoulCycling (see picture below), to supporting me everyday, that it's hard for me to ask for more. But I truly believe that our work at Transfernation is more important now than ever, and with your help we can do so much more. Whether you are a Transfernation veteran or a first time supporter, your contributions mean the world to me.
I'll donate the first $1000.00 from my personal account. If I'm not willing to give, I don't think it's fair for me to ask you to. But from there, I'm counting on all of you to help us hit our goal.
