Hi all,
Thank you for coming to my page, Trading 848 ("eight for eight")! My intention with this gofundme page is to raise over $10k and awareness for CACs or Children Advocy Centers, specifically the Philadelphia Children's Alliance (PCA). This past May, after careful deliberation, I resigned from my job and traded 8 hours at a desk for 8 hours on a bicycle while I toured the US over three months. I departed New York City and ended in Astoria, Oregon making MANY stops along the way, promoting the important work of CACs .
The Philadelphia Children's Alliance is an independent non-profit organization that promotes healing and justice for sexually abused children in Philadelphia. The PCA collaborates with partners in child protection, law enforcement, and medical and mental health services to provide forensic interviews, victim support and counseling services at the Philadelphia Safety Collaborative, a co-located child-friendly facility.
Donations will be used to fund PCA programs and cover operating costs for the year. This allows highly qualified staff to execute support services to children in need.
After the trip, in October, I will take 70% of the funds raised from this page and make a single donation to the PCA. The remainder of the funds will be used to defray part of day to day travel expenses during the trip. Since I have partnered with the PCA, a donation letter will be provided to you for 70% of the total donation amount. Be sure to leave your name and address information when making your donation so we can make sure you get credit during tax season! If you wish to make a donation directly to the PCA, please do so here and list my name in the " In Honor/Memory of:" line. This will allow PCA to track what efforts have come through this effort.
