Giving to show our love

Lots of us work, live, dine and jog in that same area of Yonge street daily. We relate to the victims and their families deeply as it could easily happen to one of us.

As new settlers, North York, Toronto and Canada in large have brought the warmest welcome, inclusivity, and sense of belonging to us. Collectively, we felt the responsibility to do our best to help the victims and their families.

The fundraising amount $42,313 is in memory of the exact time when the tragedy happened on April 23rd at 1:30 pm. We would like to remember the victims whose lives were taken away abruptly, whose dreams were cut in short, whose families & friends were left in broken hearts and who were part of our beloved community.

Where the funds are going

As per the recommendation of Mayor John Tory, all funds raised via this GoFundMe campaign will be transferred over to #TorontoStrong Fund, upon this campaign’s conclusion. This will ensure that the community’s collective efforts are well-coordinated and the funds raised by various campaigns are utilized in the most effective & efficient manner to best help those affected. The #TorontoStrong Fund was set up in partnership with the Mayor’s Office, the City of Toronto and the Toronto Foundation.
