Hello Friends and Family.
Today we got some absolutely devastating news. Our insurance has brought forth a last minute DENIAL of our beautiful Audrey's top surgery. Something that her surgeon had assured us was ALREADY approved. A vital part of her Gender Confirmation! A mere 36 hours before her surgery was scheduled! Audrey is absolutely destroyed. The sadness and disappointment is indescribable.
We are coming to you for help. We can see no other way. After 2 years of paying into this very expensive insurance policy to make sure this would be covered, we are struck down by this heartbreaking news. They will cover bottom surgery in a couple of years (we are on a waiting list), but not her top surgery. HEARTBREAKING AND UNFAIR!
A little backstory for those new to our story. Audrey is my amazing almost 22 year old daughter. She was born in 1997 to her father and I and was later joined by her baby sister. When she was 17 she began therapy to identify her true self and at age 18 started medical transition through hormone replacement therapy (HRT). She has done EVERYTHING right. SO MANY doctor visits, therapy, HRT, legal name and gender marker changed. She works a full time job (and has since age 16!) She helps me with monthly household expenses. She is a huge blessing to all of her family and friends and we all absolutely adore her. She has the full and unwavering support of her loving Partner Romy, her Parents, her Step-Parents, her Sister, her Grandparents, and her Aunties, Uncles and Cousins.

The goal amount reflects the exact amount needed for the surgery and post-op period. This is an all inclusive amount according to her surgeon. They are holding a space for her, we just have to raise the money as fast as possible.
Audrey has been on this path towards her true self for almost 4 years. She was 36 hours away from the first VITAL step in full medical transition, only to have it cruelly ripped away. Please, please help us get the surgery she so desperately needs. Top surgery for a Trans Woman is not just cosmetic and fun. It's gender affirming. It increases her personal safety. It helps her physical form to further match her soul. It's VITAL. It's medically necessary.
