Tomika fights ALS

Donation protected
Hi, I was diagnosed with ALS January 18th of 2018 and was given a prognosis of 2-5 years to live. Right now there is no cure  or treatment for this disease.
I was just at the prime of my life when this horrific disease robbed me of my life. I never dreamed that at age 47 I would be in this situation, held hostage in my own body.

I’m so terrified of the one day I wake up never to be able to walk, talk, swallow, (eat) or breath again. This disease does not only affect myself but my family as well. Financially it’s going to take a huge toll on us. Right now with only one income because I am no longer able to work, our savings have already slimmed down tremendously leaving no other choice but to ask for help...

I don’t know if I’ll make it to see a cure or even treatment for this disease but while I’m still here fighting this beast I want to live as safely and comfortably as I possibly can. With your help we can make this happen. God promised he will never leave nor forsaken me, for this, I remain strong and grateful...

I also have a Youtube channel where I share my ALS Journey. Here I use this platform to bring more awareness to ALS and also for mental & emotional therapy. I would love for you to to visit and take part in all of the love and support that’s shown here.

At this point my speech is slurred. In both hands my fingers are bent due to muscle atrophy. My left side is weaker. I have drop foot (left foot) and my gait is very unsteady I’m now using a walker. Swallowing is becoming a big challenge especially with liquids. I’ve fallen over a dozen times but God miraculously saved me from injuries every time other than a little soreness & redness.

Because both hands are pretty much useless now except for my right thumb I’m no longer able to cook, clean, dress myself, comb my hair, and I’ve recently stopped driving. Because one uses their hands for everything I already feel I’m totally paralyzed but I Thank God I am still able to walk, talk, eat and breath. My breathing at night is beginning to be a issue so I’ll discuss this when I meet again with the ALS Team in January.

Thanks for listening!
