Help Build A Horse Hospital Rescue
Thank you in advance for viewing our GoFundme, we have revised and re-established the original campaign. You can now easily find the specifics highlighted below; who we are, why this horse hospital rescue is important and needed, how the funds will be used and most important, the full story that brings us here.

Tina Jo's Promise
is a safe haven for unwanted and neglected equines. Our goal is to improve the quality of lives for these beautiful horses by protecting, rescuing and rehabilitating as many as possible.

We are a small nonprofit organization, which relies solely on the tax-deductible monetary and in-kind contributions to survive. We do all we can to best serve the needs of these majestic animals. There are times because we are not well equipped, that no matter what we do, it is still not enough.

We became painfully aware that a better equipped facility was needed for horses with serious conditions through the story of a horse named Promise. Promise, who bravely endured a life of suffering before her brief respite on our Northern Baja ranch, was in need of such a facility. Promise needed the care and equipment of a hospital. The closest Equine Hospital to our safe haven is 5 ½ hours away through a treacherous mountain pass, a trip she could not endure. Because of these obstacles, many equines have lost their lives.

Many times more extensive care and hospitalization of our beloved animals are needed. Because of Promise, we would like to ensure this never happens again if possible.

We are in need of an Equine Hospital:

Tina Jo's Promise Horse Rescue would like to build and equip an Equine Hospital right here on our land in Northern Baja California, in the country of Mexico. This is just 90 miles south of San Diego, California, right on the Pacific Ocean.

With Tina Jo's Promise Hospital Rescue we hope to ensure that there will be no other loss due to the lack of proper equipment and hospitalization. Preventing health issues through regular wellness care is a viable goal of the hospital. The hospital will be able to provide full service, 24 hour care for both medical and surgical emergencies.

Dr. Gonzalez, our skilled veterinarian and surgeon will head the medical team. He is affiliated with a hospital in Mexicali and our goal is to staff the hospital with plenty of interns from the Mexican veterinary school and we will have access to that facility as well.

We've estimated the cost to build and equip the hospital at $100,000 and we are hoping that the caring people of GoFundme will support us with this critical need.

How the Funding Raised will be used:

Most of the medical equipment will be donated, however we will still have to 'fill in some gaps' and connect all the equipment. The funding that we are seeking is for the construction of the facility and equipment that we cannot procure through donations. The functional, veterinary equipment and supplies will be from veterinary hospitals in the US to keep the costs low.

- We here at Tina Jo’s Promise are donating the land for the hospital and will be securing donations of surplus.

- $50K to $60K for the actual building and foundation. This structure will have to be insulated with heating and cooling (uncommon in this area) so there is at least $10K for that.

- Since horses cannot lie down for long periods of time without compromising their lives, specialized harnesses and electric lifts are needed for those injuries where the animal cannot sustain it's own weight when standing.  Here are examples:

http://www.andersonsling.com
http://www.andersonsling.com/#!rescue-glide/c1lgv

These two together (the sling and the rescue glide) will cost around $5K

- Specialized surfaces will have to be used in the surgical suite as well as hoists and channel to transport injured or sedated horses from the prep area to the surgical suite. Example video shows a horse being tranquilized and moved into the surgical suite:  https://youtu.be/XKySjMk3rq4

- Also, electricity down here is 'dirty' - meaning brown-outs and spikes - power conditioners are needed to protect the expensive equipment as well as a generator or solar system to power the facility in case of an electrical outage.

Why Tina Jo's Promise Equine Hospital?

Like most of our rescued horses, Promise came to us with a serious medical problem. She bore a volleyball-sized hernia on her lower flank resulting from an untended gunshot wound. This gorgeous animal was in tremendous pain and, though her life span seemed short and bleak, we could not just ignore her suffering. We moved Promise to our ranch in hopes that a surgical procedure could correct the hernia and give her a happy, pain-free life. Upon examining her, our veterinarian, Dr. Orfil Gonzalez felt confident that he could repair the damage and thus improve her quality of life.

After a couple weeks of building up her strength, our gifted surgeon, Dr. Gonzalez, felt that Promise was strong enough to endure the complicated, yet necessary, procedure that we hoped would save her life. Dr. Gonzalez did everything he could to try to save Promise, but the internal damage proved too severe with his limited resources on our ranch. Though this heartbreaking story of Promise, the promise of our mission for an Equine Hospital began.

Please help Tina Jo keep her promise...
