Tory's Project To Help Thor Heal
With my son's passion for dogs, and with his bar mitzvah coming up, he was looking for an animal that was in a bad way to try and help. Through our friends at TLC Sweet Souls in Newtown, CT we heard about Thor's story and Tory desperately wanted to help.
Given Tory's passion for Marvel comics, it just felt right when we found out the name of this particular dog was, THOR...
Thor is about a six-month-old great Pyranese who was hit by a car. The accident caused serious trauma to his right side involving both legs.
The owner did not seek help soon enough and his rear leg had to be rebroken and pinned due to out of alignment calcification.
Thor's front paw was just dangling and it is splinted hoping it can be saved and he is getting laser treatments and splint changes every three to five days.
We are praying that due to his youth, his body will aid in the healing process, but only time will tell.
Sadly, we found out that now, just over two weeks post surgery, his pin has slipped and he will have to undergo further surgery again to realign the pin!
Thor is in good spirits and extremely sweet. Despite all the discomfort and the treatments he's had to endure, he's still a very upbeat and loving 75-pound baby boy!
He is being treated at Lake Hartwell Veterinary Hospital by Dr. Jaime Terry.
