We are Think Tank! We're invited to compete at the Odyssey of the Mind WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS and and we need your help so we can afford to go.
We won our invitation after winning first place in the Sun Region and then competing against 19 other teams from across the state at the Odyssey of the Mind State Competition in Orlando, FL.
The Odyssey of the Mind World Competition is held May 23 - 28 at Michigan State University in Lansing, MI hosting over 800 teams from across the United States and around the world.
(It's really far from South Florida to Michigan...)
Who are we?
We are Think Tank! We are a team of six gifted girls, all part of the Home Schoolers of Collier County in Naples, FL. We have worked hard as a team all year to refine our long term solution and are ready to take our technical and creative performance to the WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP and compete on an international level.
What is Odyssey of the Mind?
Odyssey of the Mind is a competitive and creative problem solving competition for kids K- college. It provides teams with the opportunity to learn creative problem solving, teamwork, brainstorming, self-reliance, and respect for individual strengths -- unique, unforgettable experiences that will serve them in every aspect of their lives now and in the future.
Teams choose a long-term problem that they have several months to solve without adult outside assistance. At competition, they perform their theatrical and engineering solution in front of a panel of judges. Teams also compete in a spontaneous problem that they are given the day of competition and have to solve within 8 minutes. They are judged on both creativity and technical requirements for each problem. The challenges encourage collaboration and teamwork.
Why are we fundraising?
We were able to raise all the money we needed to go to State Competition with a community garage and bake sale. However, WORLD FINALS is much more expensive. This year it will be at the University of Michigan in East Lansing. Our team is responsible to pay for the entire cost of the trip from shipping our set and props, to flights, to ground transportation to and from the campus, to food and lodging.
We have worked really hard all year to make this happen and we need your help to raise over $10,000 but no donation is too small. Every dollar counts! Please help us make this an amazing experience that we will never forget.
