My name is Colleen and I co-own Dog Tranquility, LLC with my husband, Ian. My husband is a veteran and I am a certified dog trainer. I have worked with hundreds of clients and their dogs on everything from obedience to behavior issues. Most of the dogs I work with are rescues. These dogs are frequently "broken", but once we complete training their transformation is amazing. I cannot describe the feeling of watching a dog go from being in constant fear of everything to being able to relax and enjoy everything life has to offer. It is absolutely priceless. I am frequently the last resort for owners with dogs who exhibit behavioral issues.
I also work for a non-profit organization, that helps with veterans suffering from PTSD, training service dogs for them. I have currently certified 9 veteran service dog teams. I feel extremely blessed to be given the opportunity to give back to our veterans.
I am very passionate about both dogs and veterans. It is my dream to combine both of our passions and bring the Veteran & K9 Enrichment Center to life. This center will provide a structured daily enrichment schedule for your dog. We will offer a variety of activities, such as; swimming, obedience, agility, nose work, proper socialization and more. Not only will we have an enrichment program for your adult dog, but we will have customized programs for seniors and puppies as well. As a trainer, I understand how important it is to provide our dogs with mentally and physically stimulating activities. As a working mom, I know how hard it is to have the time to provide those daily needs for your beloved dogs.
Since working with veterans, I have come to understand the challenges they face when transitioning from military life to civilian life. When a veteran suffers from PTSD, it makes the transition unbearable at times. While working with my veterans and their service dogs, I get the honor of being able to watch them come out of their shell, smile, laugh, and RELAX for the first time in a very long time. Working with dogs is one of the best therapies for them. The Veteran & K9 Enrichment Center will be employing veterans and their dependents. This center will be a place they can earn a living in a stress free environment and will be able to maintain the comradeship they held onto while in service.
This academy will give us the opportunity to:
· Help so many more dogs and decrease the number of dogs being re-homed or worse...euthanized.
· Offer a customized enrichment program for your dog
· Provide a stress free environment for our veterans.
· Provide a therapeutic employment opportunity for veterans and their dependents
Please help us bring this big dream to reality. We are looking to purchase some land and build this dream facility. Together we will not only be able to enrich our furry family members, but we will be saving human and canine lives as well.
