Teethraiser

Several years ago terrible things happened to a precious friend of mine, that I wish I could change. I can't change them however. But I can certainly try to do something about it.

The focal incident happened when she was in an abusive, brutal relationship where, among other darknesses, her teeth were hammered right back into her mouth by the fist of an angry boyfriend.

My friend was afraid. Afraid of him. Afraid of his influence on other people. Afraid nobody would believe her. Afraid to go to the police. So she suffered silently.

But she did eventually come to her friends who helped her to escape the nightmare. In time she would gather the courage to go to the police.

Back in time, the dentist tried to save her previously perfect teeth by attaching splints and root-filling the damaged dentition. However, recently after experiencing discomfort and pain, dental x-rays have shown that four teeth once again require serious attention. They need to be fully extracted and replaced. As you can imagine, the psychological damage also continues.

If you look at the picture of the x-ray, the long "tadpoles" are the root fillings that were put in after the teeth were knocked out as the nerves had died. The middle left tooth in the picture has dark shading half-way up going into the gum- this tooth is going to snap off imminently, it has been eaten away. It has actually become worse since this x-ray was taken as now she can see the space when she looks in the mirror! The middle right tooth in the picture has slight shading on the side of it which is the start of the same problem. The trauma the teeth received often leads to these problems as it’s a biochemical response which makes the body start to reject the tooth and eat it away.

Sadly it would turn out that certain justices would ultimately not be served- as compensation appeals were rejected under the reasoning that too much time had passed from the time of the assault to coming forward to report it.

So now I take things into my own hands. I want the nightmarish reminders to be gone. I want her to have the opportunity to have four new, grafted teeth. Not dentures. Fully integrated teeth. Teeth that look normal, feel normal, last forever, eliminate many traumas from a brutal history.

But these things are so expensive!
Implants cost approximately £2500 per tooth! She needs four! £10,000!
So I appeal to the warmth of friends and strangers to donate anything at all.
Every single penny is immense generosity and warmly welcomed into the fund.
Please share this horrible story that is merely a scratch in the surface of misery and please help us to get as close to our target as possible in a short time.
No amount is too small for the enormous gratitude every donation will receive.

In the event that dental work becomes less expensive or we go over the target, the difference will be donated to Refuge - a charity that helps victims of domestic violence.

Thank you.
