For those of you that do not know me, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Kari Mercer and Tressa Hollinger is one of my dear friends/clients. Our friendship started out as a client/stylist relationship and has grown into an extremely close friendship over the past 10 years.
When Tressa first told me she was pregnant with Lyndi I was beyond thrilled and knew she and Gy would be wonderful parents, which they've lived up to....times 3!
I will never forget hearing  about Lyndi becoming sick and seeing her with puffy purple eyes and a huge swollen belly, we were all worried sick and wanted answers to what was going on! At 18 months she was diagnosed with a rare kidney disease called Nephrotic Kidney Syndrome. Lyndi just celebrated her 7th birthday and has had MANY stays at Helen DeVos  Children's Hospital due to her kidneys functioning improperly causing her severe discomfort and sickness. Lyndi has endured numerous concoctions of steroids and other meds to control her flares but nothing seems to be working.
About a month ago Lyndi went into acute kidney failure. If it hadn't been for Tressa taking her in for routine blood work they may not have caught it and she would have gone into complete kidney failure which in turn would require hours of dialysis. She's 7, it's not fair!
Due to the acute kidney failure Lyndi will be receiving weekly infusions of a medication called Albumin in which she's hooked up 6-7 hours a day. They are looking at possibly 3 times a week for this.
What I'm asking of everyone is to consider donating in help with the financial burden of driving to DeVos back and forth that insurance will not cover for 6-8 weeks by only being reimbursed, they need the help now. Tressa can not work on the days of infusions so there is also the financial burden of lost wages. This family means so much to me and it kills me to see them hurting because I know for a fact they would help me andmy family even if it were the last dime they had. Anything you can do to help will be amazing!

If you wish to donate directly you may drop items off at the church Tressa works at. Here is the address for her. Meals would be a great contribution as well!

Update from Tressa's Facebook page:

Update: we start peritoneal dialysis today. We have had two very rough days running her HD. Typical run has been 2.5-3 hours. Friday we were there 7.5 hours. Lyndi had extra fluid weight on and her lines were clotting. It was a long exhausting day for her and I both. The nurses were fabulous, and never complained about missing Friday night plans. Monday's dialysis run was 4 hours and she got sick twice, but slept a majority of the time. Today, Gy and I will both be down there with Lyndi learning how to do the PD. Please pray that all goes well and Lyndi has patience. We will be in clinic for 7-8 hours for the next three days. The reward in the end is being able to do this at home at night. If all goes good nephrectomy will be soon.

Please continue to donate and share this page in hopes to help them! Lyndi will soon be having a transplant and their insurance does not fully cover it. Bills are rolling in and every bit helps tremendously!

Update straight from Tressa-

We had a great day. Another liter or slightly more of fluid removed during dialysis. Admittance weight of Lyndi on Wednesday: 99 pounds, today's weight after dialysis 93 pounds. She went down for another chest X-ray and the fluid in her chest has decreased. Doctors are thinking that due to all the third space fluid that it's going anywhere it can. The fluid that came off today was the fluid in the lungs. Still being treated for low grade pneumonia. Plan is to continue daily with dialysis and have surgery on Friday. We will be here till she is recovered nicely from surgery on Friday. Thank you to all that has prayed, thank you to all who has sent cards, gifts and money to help offset our expenses here. You will never know how much your support means to us. Kidney removal is still set for after the New Year. We will speak with the transplant team later this week. Loves to all!

2 steps forward, 5 steps back! That's the cycle Lyndi is on! After a wonderful day yesterday filled with food, fun and family she started coughing. They gave her a breathing treatment and then spiked a 101 fever, did an X-ray and it revealed she has pneumonia! They are currently in isolation!

I will update as soon as I hear more from Tressa. Share, donate and pray!
