Jason's Sarcoma Cancer Support Fund

Donation protected
Hello Friends

My name is Jason Averia. I am an active, adventurous, creative and ambitious 33-year old young gentleman.  I was diagnosed with a rare type of sarcoma cancer called Desmoplastic Round Small Cell a few days before Christmas in 2014. It is very rare that there are only about 200 reported cases here in the US, and medical professionals are still trying to learn more about this disease and figuring out the best way to combat it. Statistically, survival rate is low and I'd be very lucky if I could live for 5 more years and extremely lucky for any time beyond that. Although this is what the numbers say, the Hope deep in my heart is in the Lord. My strong Faith tells me that Jesus Christ is our Greatest Healer. The Love that God promised all of us is the biggest source of my strength.

Through this page, please allow me to ask for your financial assistance to help me continue live and enjoy life (as I have been and as it should be) while fighting to survive cancer.

All your generous donations will be used to fund my medical and living expenses. This will definitely be one less thought off my mind & my family's and we deeply appreciate all of your support!

Much Love,
Jason

I was born and raised in the Philippines. When I was a baby, doctors found that I have a Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD - a congenital heart disease where there's a hole in the heart that allows un-oxygenated blood flow through the body, which consequently makes the heart pump harder to supply adequate oxygenated blood in the system). I had my open-heart surgery when I was 20 years old and I'm a proud VSD survivor!

I attended Manresa School and De La Salle University for my highschool diploma and Bachelor's degree, respectively. I had not only gained my technical education from these schools, but these are institutions that helped me form and strengthen my religious faith. These were also top two venues where I met my best friends for life.

Professionally, I am an out-of-the-box Industrial Engineer who currently works for Nike. I have also worked in other multinational companies like Intel Philippines, Intel USA and Leupold & Stevens, Inc.. I strongly believe that my experiences working for these companies allowed me to expand my international network of friends. I am proud to say that many of my best friendships were formed in my workplaces.

My other hobbies include singing, painting, hiking, camping, watching movies, playing board games, international and local traveling, writing, volunteering, hosting parties, playing ultimate frisbee, cooking, running marathons, crossfit, snowboarding, watching NBA (Go Blazers!), Amazing Race & Survivor, auditioning for Survivor (haha! - please click this link  if you want to see my audition video) , impersonating teachers and collecting magnets, Starbucks mugs and airline luggage tags . If I have more chance, I'd definitely would love to spend some more time surfing. I went surfing in Waikiki in Summer of 2014 and I had a blast!
