On June 29th, Dave and his newly wed wife Caitlyn were exchanging vows and cementing their journey in life together. Fast forward 24 days to July 23rd, and Dave was enduring a grand mal seizure which revealed a tumor in his brain. Just 72 hours later, he went through a lengthy operation in which his doctors were able to remove 98% of the mass.
Dave has since been diagnosed with a brain tumor (anaplastic asteocytoma with IDH1 mutation) and will begin radiation/chemo treatment at the end of August. Although the road ahead certainly will not be easy or painless, the prognosis and outlook is positive.
While the future may lead to many uncertainties and battles ahead, knowing Dave he’ll continue to look at the bright side of things. He’ll have yet another great story to add to his already fully loaded arsenal, not to mention a bad ass scar. And what better way to end that story than being able to say, ‘I kicked Cancer’s ass’. He’ll continue to make us laugh, keep our worries and concerns at bay with his relentless positivity and amaze us all with his fearlessness.
We’ve all been touched by cancer in one way or another. We understand the impact it can have on one’s life, and how drastically things can change.
As family, friends and coworkers of Dave across the world, we’ve created a GoFundMe page to send some of that love and support back to the man who does it best.
