Good Friday Evening to everyone!

Our family wanted to give you guys an update on Tammy. She's out of the hospital and on the road to recovery, but it's slow go.

We've just about got her medical bills sorted out and she's applied for help with those so we're waiting to see how that turns out.

For now, she is not able to work and is still struggling financially.
She could really use some help with her regular day to day necessities such as her utility bills, medication, and food.

To all who have donated time, money, or any other help our family thanks you from the bottom of our hearts. You guys have made a wonderful difference and humbled just doesn't define how honored we are that so many have given so selflessly.

We're still doing everything we can to help Tammy, and we're still asking anyone who could help out in any way to please do so if you can find it in your heart.

If you've already donated we ask that you please share this post to help us get the word out and continue to help Tammy while she recovers and can get back to work.

We have lowered our goal for Tammy to $2270.00 as this is the amount she needs for bills and groceries through November.

We also have a fundraiser page on Facebook:

Thank you all SO very much!

Hope you guys have an awesome weekend!!!

The Flournoy Family

==================================================================================================
Hi,
My name is Tommy Flournoy and I'm from Portland, TX.
Many of you may know my sister, Tammy, as an awesome friend, a former classmate from Detroit High School, the friendly, smiling, face at Discount Computer Repair in Portland, TX.....or maybe you don't know her at all...but you feel it in your heart to help someone with a genuine need.

After years of never missing a day of work and always being able to easily handle her busy day to day routine, she began to feel unexplainably tired and couldn't seem to keep up. After several weeks with no improvement she also began to feel short of breath.
She went to the doctor and was soon after diagnosed with a bacterial infection in her blood.

The source of this infection was never pinpointed, however her home was damaged during Hurricane Harvey which resulted in mold and other contaminates inside the house. It has been speculated that possibly during the cleanup process this bacteria could have entered her body through a cut or scratch and developed into the infection.

She was admitted to the ICU at the hospital where her condition continued to decline and her lungs began seeping fluid. After a full medical evaluation it was also determined that her aortic heart valve was leaking do to a vegetation, or bacterial growth, on the valve as a result of this infection.

On July 2nd, 2018, due to the length of time her heart and lungs had been overworking just to keep up, she was intubated and placed on a ventilator. This was done as recommended by her team of doctors to avoid respiratory failure, allow her lungs to be expanded fully to help remove the fluid buildup, and to allow her to body rest.

With minutes that felt like hours, finally 18 days later on July 20th, 2018, her lungs were improved enough that her breathing tube was able to be removed to avoid damage to her throat. A tracheotomy was performed to allow continued breathing support and time for her to be properly weened from the ventilator.

Before we could sigh a breath of relief, it was at this point that the doctors advised that the leak at her aortic valve had worsened and she would have to have the valve replaced to avoid heart failure. With a deep breath and a prayer the consent form was signed to go forward with the surgery.

On July 27th, 2018 under the unparalleled skill and care of Dr. Sergio Tavares and his team, Tammy underwent a completely successful aortic valve replacement with no complications! (Now is when the sigh of relief finally came).

Due to the exemplary care of three of the finest, and very best doctors, Dr. Dan Dubberly, Dr. Paul Heath, and Dr. Sergio Tavares, and with the care of the awesome ICU & Telemetry floor doctors, nurses, and staff at Corpus Christi Medical Center, we are so thankful to say that Tammy's life has been saved.

Tammy is currently recovering but has a road in front of her still. We have not been given a date yet when she is expected to be fully recovered or when she might be able to return to work or in what capacity. She is still awaiting physical therapy to help with the neuropathy as a result of being sedated for so long and will be on IV antibiotics until at least September 10th, 2018.

We're doing our best to help keep Tammy's household bills paid and as much of the medical bills paid as possible, but unfortunately we are unable to stay ahead of everything.

I've started this GoFundMe page for Tammy, asking if you are able to or if you feel it in your heart to help her, that you would do so. No donation is too small and your generosity to help her in this time of need will have her, and our entire family, humbled and so completely thankful.
All donations will go directly to Tammy and will ONLY be used to pay her household expenses and her medical bills for a few months while she recovers.

There are no words to express our appreciation to each and every one of you that will make a donation but know that your compassion and willingness to help another in need makes such a difference, and I certainly believe it will come back to you many times over.

I know Tammy will be forever thankful and appreciative for all your help...and will never take anything for granted...as she begins this second chance on life she's been given.
