Jake's Leg Amputation Due to Cancer

Donation protected
Jake is 13-year-old husky chow mix, part of the review team at The Chesnut Mutts, and a loving family member of our home. Over the past month, Jake has been dealing with a cancerous tumor in his front left wrist (level 1 soft tissue sarcoma).

It started out as a limp with a gash in his leg which probably resulted because he rubbed it on something due to pain. Our vet at Animal Medical Center of Rome, GA took a biopsy and determined it was cancer.

Jake went into surgery on 5/24/16 to remove the cancer but turns out it was so entwined in all the tendons and blood vessels that it was not removable. The only options would be to amputate the whole leg (euthanasia is not an option, he is 13 with a lot of life still in him) or to let it get worse and for him to be in pain till he passes. So of course, amputation is the right option. Removing the leg will give him the best chance and I know he won't have any problem adapting to the tripawd life.

So where do you come in? Well, the amputation cost is $2,500 and I know we have many Jake lovers out there who would love to help with the cost. The amputation is being done, but your donations are helping cover that cost. Any little bit helps!

Thank you!
