Two-and-a-half years ago our friend Susan Weingartner was diagnosed with Stage 4 Lung Cancer.
One year ago, a fundraiser was launched for her, and many of her friends, family, colleagues, clients, and fans donated. She and we are grateful for the outpouring of love, however, funds raised to date for her medical needs have already been spent and she is facing many more upcoming expenses.
Susan is a true super hero for her family, friends, animals and now herself. To celebrate her birthday this December and to start her New Year off on the right foot, we are launching a new fundraiser so she can direct her precious energy towards getting cancer free and not worrying about finances. In lieu of gifts we'd like contributions. We want to see her celebrating birthdays for many years to come!
In her super hero fashion, Susan continues to meet this life-challenge with poise and immense positivity - she knows no other way. Love and light pours out of Susan and has been shown back to her by encouraging words from so many of you on her Susan's Cancer Wellness Team FaceBook page ! She is determined to continue the fight for her own life just like she has done as a social justice advocate for the last thirty years.
Because the cancer had mutated around her latest targeted therapy, this past fall, while continuing to work full time, Susan started on a new treatment plan that involved six infusions of several chemotherapy drugs. But after three infusions she has made the hard decision to stop this treatment as the side effects were too debilitating. Susan now more than ever needs your help in eliminating the last remaining cancer cells. She plans to do this right away by traveling out of state to develop a new treatment plan with a highly regarded integrative cancer expert, that should be less toxic to her system and more effective at killing the cancer cells.
We have known Susan for years as a natural leader, an activist, photographer, event planner, fundraiser, speaker, ally, and friend. Susan is and has been a crusader for cows, a champion for chickens, a warrior for the whales, and a defender for dogs in laboratories. She is remarkably mindfully present and gives her time, talent, and her whole heart. Her compassion and generosity are infectious, inspirational and irreplaceable!
She is meeting every turn of this health challenge with gusto and moxie, but even super heroes need support. Susan has never hesitated when each of us needed her, and you know she has been or would be there for you in a heartbeat.
It’s not easy asking for help, especially money! Skip that Starbucks, ditch dining out this weekend, dump that extra desert, nix that Netflix rental, and pay it forward to your friend. Let’s continue to be a part of this super hero’s journey. Imagine we are virtually holding hands and hugging as a united front, all the while shrinking and melting the cancer away with each and every donation big and small.
Please contribute for the medical costs not covered by insurance, to fund the travel to doctors that can offer her new treatments with less debilitating side-effects, medications, other possible IV treatments, supplements, and any other needs she may have to get stronger, and help ensure that financial stress is never a concern instead of conquering her cancer.
The funds raised will go into an account for Susan in which she can draw upon. Her dear friend Kevin set up the bank account for Susan but she is the only one able to access the funds.
