Sunnyside Piazza Repaint 2018

Tax deductible
For two decades, neighbors of Portland’s historic Sunnyside neighborhood have come together every year to re-paint a huge flower at the intersection of SE 33rd & Yamhill, one block off Belmont Main St. Even though our city and neighborhood is quickly changing, the sunflower is always there to greet and welcome us home.

Sunnyside Piazza was one of Portland‘s City Repair’s first projects, which aimed to repair & reclaim this bland corner. In an effort to create community-oriented spaces, local residents painted a huge sunflower in the middle of the intersection and installed multiple art pieces around it. Since then, the people of Portland have maintained this intersection as a space for artistic expression and community building.

A LOT of planning and effort goes into making this happen every year. This project completely depends on community support to make it happen. Please donate what you can to help us refresh the sunflower and keep Sunnyside Piazza a bright as ever! It is tax-deductible!

PUBLIC PAINTING DAY 2018:
Saturday, June 2nd 10am-5pm

In 2018, in addition to hosting the commmunity event to get a fresh coat of paint on the sunflower, we hope to also raise enough money to pay for a new telephone pole installation by local female street artist Wokeface (like the smiling flower one we did last year), and create an official "Little Library" for sharing books and magazines.
