Stand with Courtney | MS Hope

Can the essence of life be captured in one second?  It would a moment, frozen in time as a volleyball reaches 30 mph shooting past opponents and slamming into the sand.  On any given weekend 10 years ago, friends and family could find Courtney Box flying through the air over a beach volleyball court living life to its fullest.  Her laugh, her sense of humor, her charismatic personality would fill a room.

As her family grew, her joy grew.  She could take on the world, and would win, and would pave the way for her children to have the best experiences this protected and safe hometown could offer.  She was a wife, a mother, a mentor, a teacher, a provider.  She would win you over with her insight into the world, but leave you in awe with her heart of gold and generosity.

But as she was building a path to a future, unusual symptoms began to appear.  In 2015, answers to unknown questions were found.  A disease has slowly been taking over her body, causing difficulty with walking and loss of feeling from the waist down.  This athlete’s determination would turn her into a fighter—taking on Multiple Sclerosis.

To know Courtney Box is to know the strongest, most dedicated mother. She is a woman that is the first to laugh, the first to smile and give a hug, the first to give.

She is a pillar of hope and encouragement to all around her.

And for the past 3 years, she has bravely fought.  Round after round of treatments, of options, of hope that something could help reverse the slow debilitating progression of the disease.

On any given weekend three years after the diagnosis, brave, beautiful Courtney deals with immearsuable pain.  Difficulty walking lead to a motorized scooter.  Difficult driving lead to training with hand controls to help shuttle her family to and from school, church and sporting events.

This once active Mom watches from the window as her children play.  This one time leader, caretaker, provider, now finds that participation is too difficult, too challenging.  Standing is a challenge.  Walking is a danger.

There is so much more to her life, so much more opportunity.  Today we ask for your help in giving this hope.  We’ve created this GoFund Me Page to help pay for a promising opportunity found in a progressive stem cell treatment.

MS is a disease that causes the immune system to attack the nervous and muscular systems.  Courtney’s disease has progressed to a point that her immune system needs a re-boot, and opportunity to turn back the tide.

The stem cell treatment will use Courtney’s own stem cells to help regenerate and heal her body.  While this procedure has been used for over 10 years to successfully treat severe cases of MS, it is not covered by insurance.

The goal--the hope--is to secure funding for this treatment to give a gift to not only Courtney, but to her her beautiful family.  To give her children back their coach, their mentor, their mother.  To allow Courtney to be able to actively take care of her family again and give them all of the experiences every child deserves in a mother chasing, loving, and playing with them.

Courtney is a warrior and has taken on 3 years of every option imaginable.  This is her chance, her best hope to change the future.  Please help us in making this opportunity a reality.
