Hello everyone!
Last Monday (1-9-17) Sofie went in for a simple spaying procedure, the vet found out that she has a rare case of an abdominal hernia. It means that her abdominal wall and muscle a lot thinner and weaker than usual hernia. Our vet Dr. Jordan has an experience of 47 years has never seen this before. He was able to finish the surgery, but after 3 days she started to have a fever and had developed a hernia episode. She was transferred to Animal Emergency Hospital (ASEC) where she had to have a 2nd surgery. It was performed by Dr Scott Anderson. As I understand, he made many layers of stitches in the abdominal wall area to hold internal organs in place. I know it sounds crazy for a 5-month-old kitten to have two major surgeries in 4 days, but we had to save her life. She is in intensive care now.
The lastest as of Saturday (1-14-17):
We just visited Sofie in Intensive Care and were told she is doing slightly better, she still has a slight fever and is in a lot of pain. They recommended that she stays for at least a few more days before they know how to move forward with her after care.
This was very sudden and I wish it wasn't the case but I am asking for help with the cost of 2 surgeries and her after care. Her 2 surgeries alone were a little over $4,000 and her after care is $771 per day!! We are huge animal lovers and we have rescued and saved a lot of our pets and have never asked for help but unfortunately, this is a very high bill.
Our appreciation is beyond words for how much love and support we're receiving during this absolutely devastating time. Thank you so much for your prayers and well wishes. We can't imaging life without our precious girl and will do anything to help her.
